yes, bulldogs are done. i can't see spending 10's of thousands of dollars to fight it.

gibson's trademark is on the 2 dimensional body shape only, so neck attachment and other features are not part of the equation. they have the right to come after anyone they choose to. we intentionally made our shape diferent, but not different enough for them.

prs only proved that they, prs, are not confusing the customer. they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it. that would kill us.

so we will move on. at some future date will probably incorporate some of the cool features in to a modified atom shape, but for now there are other more pressing projects.

Sad that it came to that.

Seriously... you can't think that the same guy that buys a LP Standard (with those ridiculous new 2015 features) is interested in a boutique guitar like the Bulldog.

Seems you could indeed make a "bulldog II" that used the atom shape and had the control layout of a LP for those who want it.

Now I want a Bulldog, but that will pass...

I am so disappointed for you Tom. I love my Bulldog and it is just too bad it had to come to this. The bright side is you have so many great options that in the long run it isn't a huge deal. At least there is the Atom for a single cut option and the Cobra for those types of tones.

The more I think about it the more disappointed I get. In the grand scheme it isn't a huge deal but I just don't understand how the Bulldog takes any of Gibson's marketshare. I am sure there is more to it than that but it still disappoints me.

My 19 year old son is 7 months into 2 years of volunteer service in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. He has always loved Les Paul guitars but lusted over playing my TAGs. I was going to reward his service with a custom built Bulldog when he returned home. I'll have to find another way.

Thank you all very much for your kind words and support. It means a lot to us all. Yes, no denying, Bulldog is a magnificent playing, feeling and sounding instrument. And all your comments about Atom are amazingly adept. So, yes, to all of those observations. We will see what comes - good things, better things, for sure.

We are happy and alive here at Anderson Guitarworks, having fun hangin' with the best guitars. Yea, it is a most thrilling time with the new guitars that have just arrived, Icon and Raven Superbird - and then there are those things that are coming.

It is good to be at Anderson Guitarworks and be part of the Anderson family with all of you.

Well, this sucks (and I personally prefer the Atom CT to the Bulldog), but there seems to be a boatload of LP clones, anywhere from asian knockoffs right on up to Heritage Guitars. How are they different?

Move forward with the Atom CT, I say....

I think you guys should cross the Atom CT with the Bulldog and call it the Atomic Dog. Funky!

I'm very disappointed to see that Gibson continues to use strong-arm tactics against small builders. From what i can see, the Bulldog's silhouette differs from the LP in subtle but obvious ways, so i can't really see where the infringement lies.

No doubt, Gibson's lawyers will see this as a "victory" (however hollow) and will be even more emboldened to go after more small builders.

Unfortunate turn of events for Bulldog lovers.

Personally, I fell in love with the Atom after trying one at NAMM the first year they were released. I loved everything about it that wasn't like a LP... 6 on a side tuners headstock, only 1 volume and 1 tone controls and 5 way switch. Add to that TAG quality and the Atom was a no brainer for me.

Luckily I have no interest in any new product by Gibson.

I look forward to experiencing whatever Tom, Roy and the whole TAG team will be creating in the future.
