Hey guys!
My Classic is in need of a set of new tuners. I am wondering whitch type and make to buy.
The originals are a tip locking type, you have to use a screwdriver or a coin.
I think they are some sort of Grover Rotomatics (406)?
Anyhow - what should i buy as a direct replacement?
Thanks for any help on the matter!
Serial is: 07-27-94A if that's any help.

Why does it need new tuners ?
They don't wear out.

No, they are not really worn out but one of the small brackets in the locking mechanism is broken i two pieces, resulting in tuning problems on that string.

Possible that Tom can help replace the damaged tuner.
If not, hopefully the latest ones will be a direct replacement.
Good luck.

Hi Tom!
Yes, it's the Grover tuners. There's a spacer under each locking screw thingy - the string sits between this spacer and the the locking screw tip. The spacers are different sizes on different tuners - the one broken is the B-tuner, but i think it would be a good idea to change all of them - they look pretty worn. Some of the screw tips are quite worn as well, looks like someone has been using a sledgehammer to tighten them :-)
Hence my thoughts on swapping out the tuners all together.
Other than that they all work very well, after 20 years of abuse :-)

i can send you replacement spacers. we also found it better to use all the shorter spacers. i'll just need a mailing address.

the gotoh and new tuners do not share the same mounting screw hole location, so if you change them the old hole will show if that matters to you.

Yeah, that matters... also i would rather keep the old tuners because they have your logo on them :-)
I will email you my adress and naturally i will pay for the spacers an shipping.

:) You most certainly do! I'll try to fix that asap!

Here are some snaps of my baby. She looks and plays amazing after 20 odd years. Iīve had (and have) quite a few Strats, a couple of Ruokangas V.S.O.Pīs and even another TA Classic - this is my favorite!
