Hi All,
I adjusted the truss rod on my cobra s and it made a loud creaking sound. I don't remember ever hearing this on my other guitars. I am wondering if I need to lubricate it somehow? Maybe spray wd-40? squirt a little oil in there or something? Any ideas? thanks.
If it hasn't been adjusted in a while that's not a worry. About 2years agoewe added two dissimilar washers to the rod assembly and they make things move easierthan the dsteel on steel we used to have.
To lubricate, you need to remove the nut and put some grease or Vaseline on the threads and bottom end, the reinstall.
If you're going to do that, you might as well add the two washers. I am out of town for the week but you can call or email with your address and Rachel can send them.

my experience: now and then, if truss rod is not adjusted for a long time, I can hear the same "crack" sound, very loudly , especially on my maple neck, rosewood fb guitar (on mahogany neck, rosewood fb it never happen?)
Other than "crack" sound  , everything else in order.
Cheers,
Zoran

Thank you Tom and Big Harry. I'm glad it's nothing serious. I was worried because this winter was rough! I have fret sprout on a couple of guitars (which I have never had) and then this. I was like, "damn it, winter!!" Thanks.. j
