Crowdster "Discovery"

I've been playing my new Crowdster for about a month now, and while I enjoy everything about the guitar, I was still searching for something tonally. I was playing it through the clean channel of my rack setup, and it seemed to sound a lot like my other guitars--that is--not quite acoustic.

Well...last night I plugged the Crowdster straight into my mic preamp and into the computer. I have some fairly nice monitors (KRK V8) and thought I'd give it a go. You can probably guess the rest of the story: the Crowdster came alive like I hadn't heard it before!

I guess that all the tone shaping and the 4x12 Marshall cabinet I use works great for my electrics, but I'm going to need something else to tap into the beauty of the Crowdster. But for now, I know what I need to do to get more out of it at home: use the computer!

If you really want it to come alive, get a Pendulum SPS-1 pre-amp. You'll hear the Crowdy like never before. I got mine on e-bay for about half of the regular price and it is worth every penny!:)

12" speakers can't make the high end needed to properly amplify an acoustic.

A dedicated acoustic amp (mines a SWR Strawberry Blond), or a direct box to the PA sound great also! :D

I am using a Marshall AS50R for monitoring and small gigs, with a direct out of the back to the PA for larger venues. I love the sound I get through the Marshall, and think I will buy the 100 watt version soon so I can stay in front of the band with a clean acoustic sound. I am happy with my Crowdy!

Thanks Nick, I have been enjoying it. I will be using it on a couple tunes when my band opens for Jars of Clay in El Paso, TX on Friday, August 20th at the El Paso County Coliseum (shameless plug)...

Hey Devin -

I saw on your web site that you are opening for Jars of Clay -- very very cool! If you're coming to the Chicago area, let me know!

You probably already know this, but I believe that the Crowdster model is named after David Crowder who is now opening for Mercy Me and Michael W. Smith!
