Split / VA booster question

Hi Tom,

I have a hollow drop top with SC1's in neck and middle. Recently I have been playing a lot with bright clean tones and I could swear I get a tiny difference in sound on these 2 pickups when in split, (up) vs humbucker, (middle). I like it.

Am I losing it, as everything I read suggests they should be the same sound in both positions?

It is subtle and I can only hear it playing solo or with a drum track. Throw in any other tracks and it is completely lost.

they are not different, only the hb by itself is different. if it is a recent guitar, middle does get split when in combination with the split humbucker, but individually they are the same in up and middle positions.
