Watch this video from Harmony Central. Take a look at the logo on the headstock of this Alesis guitar.

I'm no lawyer, but boy that sure looks familiar!

The headstock shape is different and the font used for the big "A" is totally different.
And geesh, what a cheesebox sounding guitar. Uggg.
ours hands and check book are full with the fender thing. it is amazing how fast the dollars pile up with this junk. it's a good thing 18 companies are involved to share the load.

What is this Fender thing? Is Fender trying to sue everyone that makes a strat or tele style guitar now??

Not yet; though it will get that far if the courts allow it.
They have filed the paperwork to trademark the bodyshapes.
Some 50 years after they came up with them.
It is all *very* stupid and costing lots of folks lots of money already.
For instance, what if I claim my ancestors invented square windows? You all gonna owe me bigtime. :D:D:D

Too bad, MY ancestors invented the square opening for your windows to go in. :p
Honestly, after the Gibson/PRS thing, the 18-maker coalition should set up a donation site. I know I'd throw a few bucks in to stop this in it's tracks.
the fender and gibson things are very different things in the eyes of the law. gibson has a trademark, and is defending it. prs made guitars after that trademark was issued. fender is applying for a trademark, and we are protesting the issueing of it. but yes it is all still expensive and stupid.

Interesting... I had not idea Fender had not had a trademark already. I say their loss if they decide to do this 50 years late.
Besides, somebody who buys an Anderson is not even going to have a Fender as a comparison guitar. It's not like Fender isn't making enough money, or losing a lot because of other guitars looking similar to theirs. If somebody wants a Fender, they're probably going to get one because its FENDER. If they want some custom guitar, say like an Anderson, Fender probably isn't even an option anyways.
