Other than a PG and a humbucker, what else do you need? Anything else have to be done/added-subtracted to the wiring, etc...? Using older VA1 neck and middle on this one
Possibly a mini switch if you're splitting, and a 330k resister for vintage voicing..

Where does the 330 resistor go?
it ends up going between hot and ground. depending on the switching, it can be on the mini switch or on the 5 way. it is connected when ever singles are on.

Would that, i.e. the 330k resister, be true for "real" single coils like the VAs only or for SDs, SKs, SFs too?
Thanks & regards, Tom
we use it for all our single coil sized pickups and when ever a humbucker is split.
we use 330k because it is counteracting 2 500k pots.
Hmmmm.
I guess I did something wrong: I swapped the original 3 SDs for 2 SCs and an H2+, left all electrics in. The tone pot is a 250k, can't see the volume pot value due to the soldering. Should I exchange the pots? Could this be the reason why the guitar is not the brightest sounding (Classic from 97, Alder body with maple / rosewood neck)? Fantastic guitar for all other aspects ...
Thanks
Tom
there was a time when we used 250k pots when we had all single coils in a guitar, so you may have had that or a pot could have been changed.
if you do have 250k pots and have vv attached, it would be dark sounding. if you remove the vv resister, the singles will sound as they should, but the humbucker will be darker than normal.
the best would be 500k pots with the resister being turned on at appropriate times.

Where does the 330 resistor go?
It goes from hot to ground when the singlesare on. Depending on the hharness we turn it on with the splitter or the rcextra leg of the 5way.
