I bought a new Tom Anderson Hollow T with the three pickups.
Every time I touch the pickguard there is a sound going to the amp.
I can move my finger around the pickguard and a crackling noise is heard.
It makes that sound no mater what pickup setings I use. This guitar is pretty new, but it was doing this from day one. I wasn't going to say anything about this as I love the guitar , but this is realy starting to bother me. Has anybody got a solution.Chuck.:(

static?

sounds like it might be.

There are some high-tech solutions, but you can, I kid you not, get a dryer sheet, rub it on the pickguard, and if it's just static, it'll go away for a while. I've heard of people putting one inside the cavity as a matter of fact.

Are you touching strings or bridge when you do this?

loosen a couple of the pg screws and see if you see copper on the bottom side of the pg. it's only been sometime in the last year that we started covering the whole back side of T pgs. until then we figured that with all the hollow area unable to be shielded the pg really didn't contribute much. we now do the whole back side and it can help with static build up. there are those times of the year when the heaters are running that it is just an unpredictable pain in the butt which can often be helped with the silly dryer sheets.

let me know what you have. if you need the extra foil i can send it to you. it's pretty easy to install.

I might add that to mine! Pretty sure I can source it locally, though.

i did forget to mention, you need to put a small piece of the foil tape on the body top so that it connects the metal control plate to the underside foil on the pg. we usually put a little strip from where the end mounting screw on the plate meets the pg.
