I'd like to think of myself as being above average in the technical area when it comes to guitars and such. Here is the problem. I've had the guitar I affectionately refer to as "Shelby" for 4 years now, and when I use the tremolo, the 3rd string stays sharp. I have used Nut Sauce on the bridge saddle and nut witness points. I've even cleaned them off, and put more Nut Sauce on those witness points than I do the other 5 and it's still going out of tune. Tom, do you have any ideas?

Might be a bad string. I'd try that. Or maybe its not seated properly.

Strings are brand new. This started happening with the old strings as well. I was hoping the new strings and cleaning the witness points would help, but no dice.

If you go down in pitch only with the bar.. then return and it's sharp, that means there is stiction. From what you mentioned, it's only happening with the G string.. this means it's not the bridge sticking. If you pull up on the bar only and the note returns flat when you return, then again it's sticking.

Here's something to check: At the nut, pull the G string out of the nut slot. You may have to do this repeatedly to feel something or hear it. Does it feel like it's stuck? Any resistance here is an issue. Sometimes you'll have to clean and remove the lube to get a good idea of what's going on since the lube will hide resistance.

Yeah Bruce, that much I know, I guess it was more of a "what should I use to clean the nut slot" with. Being that it's a Buzz Feiten nut I want to be VERY careful. SO, I figured it out, and it's FLAWLESS again. I'll share what I did and perhaps there are others having the same problem and may need to resort to this. Fellow Anderson users, I have found a GREAT cleaner for nut "crud". I simply got a piece of flossing tape from the medicine cabinet and ran it through the 3rd string slot, making sure to use different parts of the tape to ensure I wasn't just putting lube crud and dirt back in there. I re-lubed, worked the string through with vigorous tremolo action, and "VOILA!!", I can dive bomb with not a bit of tuning problem.
