I need a simple dual delay pedal. Nothing too complicated. Just want to be able to program and access just two different delays. It can also bank up and down to access 3 or 4 programs if digital. I have researched the Boss DD-20 so far? I hear/read that the L6 sucks your tone... I currently use a MXR Carbon Copy, but want a little more..
What are all you hip cats using on your pedal boards these days?
thanks!

If you've got room on the board a TC Flashback x4 would be on my list. I have the original Flashback and LOVE it! Quality delay sounds, doesn't affect tone, and a lot of the tone prints are amazing. Very intuitive too. Just my $.02.

I don't think the L6 stuff sucks tone at all, myself.
I've used the DL4, the M13, and the HD 500 and love them all.
The M9 would be really great for a dual delay pedal, and then some.
i love the m9 for delay and all the other weird stuff i use occasionally. it and a couple gain pedals covers all i need. that said, i may have liked the dd20 sounds a little better. kind of depends how fancy you want to get.

Long time DD-20 user here, and I would agree with Tom. Haven't tried a Strymon, just because I haven't. But, it would be worth a look also.
Good luck,

I am strongly considering the DD-20 and the TC Flashback..TC made the NOVA series and they are horrible, so I need to try both out. I like the TAP idea, but may pedals do it these days..just wanted to be able to change sounds without having to bend down..Thanks everyone!

I have the original flashback and love it. Some of the tone prints are pretty amazing sounding so I've considered bumping up to the Flashback x4 for the presets. I've never used the nova system stuff but on my board now I have a tc flashback, trinity reverb and ditto looper and could not be more pleased with them. I think tc is making some of the best sounding pedals for the money right now.

Here's a nod to the Eventide Time Factor. What a beast, and a lot of fun.

If you can afford it I highly recommend the Strymon Timeline. Pretty incredible delay unit with great features and tone..... The Flashback is also impressive but you would have to get two in order for the dual delay thing to happen. I'm not sure if the Flashback X4 allows you to have two on at the same time... would be crazy if they didn't but that would be another one I highly recommend....

Got the Flashback X4! Haven't dove in just yet, but looks and appears that ther isn't much it won't do..especially with the 4 spaces for tone prints.
Man this thing will take up some real estate on the board though! I need to reconfigure the board this week..
I'll let you know! Thanks everyone!:)

Cool Casper, I would love to know your thoughts on the X4. I've got the single flashback and love it. I had thought about selling it though and putting that towards an X4.

The Flashback X4 is pretty cool. If I didn't already have a Strymon Timeline I would be all over it. The Toneprint Editor is KILLER!!

I still think the Timeline is a step above the X4.... From what I'm hearing we will have an editor program soon.

I haven't used the timeline personally but everything I've heard about it is great, however, at nearly twice the price of the x4 I would hope it would be several steps above.

I like the pedal so far, but one complaint: I set the 3 presets for various sounds...if I hit the tap tempo either by accident or on purpose, it radically changes the preset...
It seems to be this way even if using one of the tone prints. It seems the tap function is best suited for accents..not for soloing? I;ve never had as versatile of a pedal before so I'm sure I need to just gig with it for awhile. this pedal takes up some serious real estate FYI, but my T-rex-fuel tank powers it effortlessly. I'm sure the tone library is cool, but I don't see me using it alot as my board stays on the truck most of the time. If I had a smart phone, I could 'beam' the tone print to the pedal  Man, is technology something or what??!

Weird about the tap tempo changing. Hook it up to your computer and make sure you have the latest firmware from the TC site downloaded to it.
The tone print app will work with an ipod touch too if you have that. There are some really great sounds out there. Just make sure you have some way to mute the guitar after the flashback b/c it makes a modem like sound when beaming through the pickups.

I'm sure its user error, I'm all thumbs and no patieince when it comes to technology anyway..probably why I don't use modeling stuff anymore too.

You know I have and use a TC nova system and am convinced the tap doesn't work. I've heard this from others on their forum being super frustrated as well
I really like the quality of effect but it is a bit annoying and think I'd trade in for another M9!! That thing is nicer to use all in one type unit.

The trick with the TC Nova pedals is that they use a switch that contacts at the top of the travel. The contact in the switch is broken as soon as you touch the switch, rather than at the end of its travel. To make it worse, I think they do their timing between contacting. So you get better results if you time the taps between 'releases' rather than 'presses'.
Try that and see if it improves things.
