Just last week I was asked to audition with a local classic rock cover band. It has been 18 years since I have played with a band and I am a bit nervous. They gave me a list of tunes to learn for the audition in April. I haven't played about half of them but they asked if I might put together a recording clip of a tune so they could get a sense of my abilities. I chose Carry On My Wayward Son from Kansas.
I found the backing track with no guitars and hit record this afternoon. I thought I would do a video as well. Either way, I thought I would share it with you all and see what you think. I would love some feedback if you have some. If not, no worries.
For the gear heads, I used my Anderson Bulldog into the Kemper recorded direct. I love the Ceriatone Yeti profile so I used that as well. A little delay and reverb for room effect.
I tried to keep my ugly mug out of it too.

I hope the rest of the band you're auditioning for are as good as you are.
I'm with Jack. You may intimidate them! Great job.
Audition or not, that is some fine playing - and a nice showcase for the Bulldog - sounds awesome!

You can play. Don't worry about that.
More important to some of the band members will be how you can get along with them and play WITH them.
This video, of course, doesn't show that, but I'm sure you will get the opportunity soon.
Good playing.
Now... what are you gonna say when they see your guitar and they ask "Hey, man, you play great, too bad you can't afford a real Gibson"...
i get asked that some times and i just say it's a home made guitar.

Thanks! I get nervous because I quite literally have not played with others in 18 years. Timing is so important and I know that chemistry and familiarity with the others will play a big role.
I hope the rest of the band you're auditioning for are as good as you are.
Thanks Jack! I feel like I am just a hack but I love to play. I have been loving the Bulldog so much lately.

Thanks Tom! The Bulldog snarl ought to bring them to their knees.

I totally agree. I am most nervous about how I fit live. I should be able to acclimate quick.
Funny that you both should mention that about the Gibson. I had a friend pickup my Bulldog a couple of months ago. He asked me how my "fake" Les Paul played so much better than his real one. I had him take a look at the craftsmanship and the neck joint. He was blown away how I could get similar tones and beyond without fighting with the guitar. I told him to come to the light!
Tom, that's is a cool response. Quite literally a home made guitar.

I'm gonna start saying that a buddy of mine makes these in his (really really big) garage...

Awesome stuff! I agree that your (potential) future band mates might have a bit of a rough time keeping up to your abilities! Great playing and tone! Love the Bulldog too!

I get asked all the time why I don't just get a "real" Strat/Tele.
Going to start using the "home made guitar" line.
Priceless...

Great Job! the tone was real nice n chunky. It was fun to watch.
Haha fantastic- no worries man, you can play.

That tone kills- Im a big fan of modeling gear... i use an AxeFX and have never looked back on the tube amp days with remorse.

Ahh, but how were we supposed to judge if you have appropriate "guitar face?"
I'll jump on the wagon with everyone else...very nice playing/tones!
Best of luck!
