Hello all! I recently relocated back to PA from GA after being about 20 years or so down south. I have been playing PRS guitars the past few years, but I am seriously looking and thinking about a TAG. I was mostly playing in churches around TN, AL and GA. I also played some Country and soft Rock and some solo Jazz stuff. I currently have 4 PRS guitars and a Fender Tele hanging around with an Egnater amp and some Wampler pedals.
I started out in the early 80s in a Southern Gospel group playing guitar and singing backup vocals.
Anyway, I have been seriously looking at TAG and Suhr guitars for the past couple of months. I have some serious GAS for a TAG though.

Hey Jim,
I too am waiting on my first TAG. I am hoping the wait will be over soon. I play a PRS Signature Limited as well. It too is a very nice guitar. I play mostly worship but am planning to play out a bit over this next year.
Good to have you here!

Thank you Eric.
I had the nice experience of playing clean with some jazzier style in a traditional Worship service and then use a different guitar and setup for a Contemporary Christian music service. The Minister of Music would really mix up the styles of music in the traditional service though to try and cover a lot of different music as you just can't please everyone. I liked having the diversity as I could play traditional hymns, Jazz, Country, Southern Gospel, R&B, Blues, and an occasional Bluegrass style song on my acoustic. Even occasional songs with an island flavor or some Latin styles.
This gave me a chance to use all of my guitars in some way or another over time.
Don't know about you, but every church I played in, the pianist hated to play anything with sharps and we were always forced to play in the keys the pianist wanted and had music for. So, I had to play most of the music in flat keys like Bb, Eb, Ab and F. Once in a blue moon, maybe in C or G. But, God forbid, we could do anything in E (4 sharps) as the world might end! It made it a little more cumbersome for me when playing in Db or Gb as I just wasn't so used to those keys. Because of switching songs so quickly, I never used a capo and I usually never saw the music until 1 hour before church and we would barely have time to run quickly through each song once! Some of those songs where the chord changes on every syllable of every word were tough for me! Anyway, I do not know why church pianists will play flats, but hate sharps? I never got a real explanation from any of them. Maybe they are so used to reading with flats written for church music and just don't read sharps enough to do it well.
I have also played solo chord melody style guitar here and there which was a nice change for me. No band to cover up any mistakes though!
I hope we both find a TAG and can get great use of them! I love my PRS Johnny Hiland model the most so far of any PRS I have tried. I had a couple of other PRS models and sold them.

I wonder if they just learned the flat keys first.
I am a hack pianist, and find D, E, A to be my most comfortable keys. C is boring to play in because there are NO black notes... but then, I'm not really trained right.

Welcome Jim! Hate that the South lost a good player but welcome to the forum! You would not be disappointed in a TAG... they are fine instruments and the service from Tom and the guys is unbelievable!

Thank you for the welcome guys!
I found out that the Guitar Center in Cherry Hill, NJ is an Anderson dealer! It is only about 40 miles from me. They are 1 of only 3 GCs that have Anderson guitars (Nashville and one in Texas are the other 2).
I plan on going there next weekend and try out my first Anderson guitar! I am really leaning towards trying the Drop Top Classic and Cobra models, but I may just try them all.:D I am not a fan of the Les Pauls and I have not heard one single Bulldog video on YouTube that I liked. Maybe it is just the way the guys playing the Bulldog and their setup/style just isn't grabbing me.
A guy also told me to try one they have with 3 P90 style pickups in it. He says the pickups on that guitar really sing and he isn't a P90 fan.
