I'm trying to persuade my mrs to let me order another Anderson and I've settled on the specs except one thing.
Has anyone got a full chocolate maple neck as opposed to one with a rosewood 'board ??

Can't find anything online.
Cheers

Great, as I can't find a single photo of an all chocolate maple neck I was worrying that it wasn't an option !
I'm planning a Starry Night Classic with that neck spec . :D :D :D

keep in mind that the chocolate now is lighter brown than it used to be. still much darker than the "roasted" i see others using. on the old stuff you could not see the grain from more than a couple feet away. the new stuff is a lovely mocha brown.

Any photos I can use to help persuade the little lady that this is a worthy final purchase ? :D

Love Chocloate Maple necks. Here are my two examples. My Drop Top has the darker color where the Classic is more how Tom explained the tint moving forward. I will say I get more praise for the lighter color and it fits the Sage Green Metallic very well.

the lighter one is a better example of the newer stuff.

Why dont you explain the purpose of the "chocolate neck" on the site? I only see you decribe the look of it- not the added stability. Seems that would be a good thing to highight.

in regards to stability, i think the claims i've heard from others may be over stated. but i'm a pretty conservative guy when it comes to construction elements. it is not immune to water, and does still move with weather changes. less? probably, but i like to have a few years to develop an opinion based on lots of guitars and personal experience before proclaiming anything. this is a fairly recent application in the guitar world so i think we have to be a little careful about proclaiming "magic".

all that said, i really like working with the stuff. it is beautiful and does not seem to have any negative characteristics that would make me hesitate to recommend it. since it comes from the same trees as our regular maple, i fully trust the guy handling the raw trees. i've been buying all my neck maple from him for a very long time and can't think of a person i've met that knows more about hard maple.

I have never had an one piece maple neck guitar before in my life as i prefer the tone and feel from rosewood fretboard, but those chocolate maple looks sweet! :)

Similar to what Tom stated, I didn't go with the Chocolate Maple because of stability reasons. I just love the way it looks with darker earthy colors and think the lighter version (like on my Classic above) looks super classy. Another picture of each:

Can't help myself. I have to comment as well and say that Choc Maple on the Sage Green looks spectacular. I have Choc Maple neck on my 7 and it is of the earlier darker variety but I like this new lighter Choc maple better (although I think I prefer mine on my particular guitar with Tobacco shaded edge Koa still).
Looks really good!
