Hello i have used in-ear for many years now. first straight from aux with wire, so a JTS wireless system..its cheap and worked only a short time.. had to go back to wire.. So i finaly desided to by Sennheizer ew300IE. it costs 1550 usd here in Norway, but after the gig last weekend i think it was worth the money! very crystal clear sound good insterument separation and even bass frequenses was good! my band plays about 20-25gigs a year and i am playing with a folk music band and som other things Choirs and things like that. I realy like good and riable eq. if it dont work i cant use it.. it must be 100%
I realy recomand Sennheizer ew300IE!. its Run trough a Presonus Studiolive and JBL PA, dont remember series.. fultone with 18" bass
Oh cool! Yeah I love IEM's. I use Ultimate Ears UE7's and absolutely love them. Very good. I heard about JH Audio coming out with a new technology that changes the timing at which the frequencies reach your ears (a phasing thing?) that changes the whole sound spectrum and sounds spectacular, but it only is offered on their upper level JH16's.

I've been using IEM's for a couple of years now at two venues I play at. In ears are great but there are a couple of things required for them to work correctly. You either need to have (A) a great soundman and a good monitor mix or (B) the ability to blend you own individual channel in (ala aviom) or buld your own mixes. If you have to depend an a mediocre soundman to make them work, you aren't going to like it.
It is a bit different than having the amp right next to you (usually we do this with the cabs miced off stage) but it makes for a very clean mix and I think that, when it's used correctly, the resulting overall mix is much better.
Just my $.02

I've used IEMs for a long time. Lately I've been experimenting with using a mono feed of the main mix with a bit of my stage rig mixed in with a small mixer to drive the IEM transmitter. Sometimes I don't need any of the of my rig mixed in. This seems to work better for me than playing hit or miss with a sound man getting the monitor mix right.

At my last church I worked at, I used Avioms, loved them even though they're not built very sturdily. IEMs are a great tool.

I've been using IEM's week in and week out for some 6+ years now. I'm also wireless with my personal Sennheiser ew 300 IEM G3 system hooked into the church's Aviom system. Gives me great flexibility! (though we also have a great SE!)
I started with Shure universal earbuds, which worked OK. But have been using my personal Westone ES3 Custom IEM's since '07. Love these for their comfort and sound quality. The build in midrange "bump" of these triple driver monitors helps me hear everything I need. And the 25dB of isolation helps me with what I don't need to hear!
I'll be the first to say that IEM's are not for everyone. They do take some getting used to, and some never do. But I do think the majority will like them given time.
Personally, I would take a good IEM system over wedge monitors any day. Something I wouldn't have said, oh, about 7 years ago... ;)
Thanks,
Ray K.

I have my amp next to me. and mix my monitormix as i want it! same on every gig. Often i use only on ear so i hear my amp better, and that people can talk to me! :-) We use a Presonus studiolive mixer. I realy like them! Our lead singer tryed mine, and changed his in ears imidiatly!

DO NOT DO THIS! You are experiencing something called "masking" making the sound in the "one ear" way way louder than you think it is, and potentially causing serious damage. DO NOT DO THIS!

What did you say??? Did not hear you! Haha. No its no problem for me i have done it last 15 years. We have thrown out all our stage monitors, so we keep low level on stage, it works fine to me had no problems. When i play in other settings with ordinary monitors its much much louder, and it sings in the ears after the gig. I dont think the level is that different for left right ear, when i am hearing my amp and accoustic sound of the drums at the same time..
