...somebody start something.
How about that rain and wind about to hit us in the Northeast, eh?

How about the vog and lack of trade winds in Hawaii? Feels like a bad summer day in L.A.!!!

It is a bit quiet here. Personally I've been busy getting my studio equipment to higher floors and getting the cars out. Now I'm just waiting for Sandy to go by. Still a day away and things are getting very breezy and wet. I'm in VA on the Ches. bay near the coast. Things should not get too bad here, but I am expecting that the studio (lowest floor of my house) will flood. It's built for it and will only require a cleanup when done. I worry more about those in the northern states.

Had my jamroom christening last week. Good time with some players of two different groups I play with. Used my TAG T into a heavily modded up AC15C1. WHOA!!!
I was hoping to repeat today with some others, but the hurricane has got everyone battening down the hatches here on the Jersey Shore.

Best of luck to you. We are in the middle of our first tide cycle with flooding. It's about 3" deep in my studio now. Surely will get a bit worse next few cycles. Still have power and cable so all is good.

Tsunami warning for us!
Heard it was downgraded. You all okay?
going to and coming from church (on I80 in PA) we saw HUNDREDS of electric company support trucks from all over heading toward the storm. They're getting ready for a disaster. Lots of brave folks there.
Keep us posted, you who are in the path. We are sorta in the path, but inland enough that we don't have to really worry about total catastrophe.

dplight, where are you?
I'm 4 miles inland, my daughter and sister are 4 blocks inland at their houses. Daughters' town, Belmar, NJ has mandatory evac orders. Sister's house is safer.
We went to the beach a few hours ago. Waves are big and we are 24 hours away from the tidal surge. Lots of people along the ocean and a big wedding going on at a oceanfront reception hall. Not a photo op day unless you like windy, rainy stormy weather.
This is big surf here, but small potatoes compared to the Pacific storms I've seen. Wind and rain will last for days and that's what does the damage.

picnic,
I'm in Poquoson VA about 1 mile (Messick Point) from bay water. Today we are much closer. I don't know how many times I've been through this drill even though Sandy is a bit unique. Right now, 6PM, tide is down and the roads are no longer submerged. By 9PM they will be back under water. I learned years ago that you don't start cleanup till you get one tide cycle with no flooding.
Pluto,
I spent 3 years on Ohau when I was a kid. My dad was stationed in Schofield Barracks. I can remember one Tsunami that was pretty scarey. Hopefully it will miss.

Hey Pietro and dplight, the tsunami warning turned out to be uneventful. Thanks for the concern! I hope all you east coasters have a safe and uneventful hurricane. Sure looks scary on the news. All the best to you guys out there!

I agree! Wow this Forum used to be full all the time. The economy may have put a damper on gigging but maybe it is time to start getting things going again; or maybe it is the lack of Guitar Heros on the radio... Maybe it is the lack of good paying gigs... Maybe people need to listen to some George Harrison and straighten themselves out... Maybe people are losing their spirituality; maybe they need to let their Soul Shine...

+1. That's some scary stuff going on over there. I almost don't want to read CNN or watch the news.

I don't know what it is, but it seems like all the gear sites are down. Might be the economy but I think gear in general has been static over the years. There's nothing really new or interesting that has come out.

Here in Western PA, we survived a night of HIGH winds with no house damage and no power out. I don't know about the rest of our area, though, yet. It looks like we might have been very very fortunate. Thank you GOD!
