Mahogany necks- lighter color

I've seen a bunch of Cobras recently with a much lighter color mahogany neck. I bought an M Series from Brian that was the first one I'd seen, but a bunch are popping up. Anyone else noticed this?

i have seen them coming through. i snagged one for myself.

I've had three in a row. And I must say they are superior to every guitar ever know to man (and I never exaggerate).

Just got my new Cobra S yesterday and now I know what you guys are talking about. Another thing I noticed is that the back of the neck has a unusual, almost checked pattern that I've never seen on mohagany. That is cool!!!!!!!!! :cool:

niiiiiice! no structural issues ala Flamed maple or birdseye maple? I assume there aren't or TAG wouldn't issue.

some call it silking. it shows in many quarter sawn woods. it's not a grain abnormality like flame or birdseye. it seems to show up a little easier in this wood that is lighter in color.

Hey Mike, Jay's got the same type of neck-weird pattern huh? I had a difficult time describing it on the phone, but I've never seen mahogany like that. I'll send pics up anyway next week if my home computer isn't fixed yet or if I haven't bought a new one yet.
