Oh... no... it's fair... it's just like waiting for Christmas, that's all... And Christmas comes on a Monday this year...

I'm also waiting for my first Anderson - a Short T Classic. Mine's still probably a couple of thousand miles away but hopefully it arrives soon!

In situations like this, I've always wondered why ups doesn't work on the weekends!

i worked for UPS for 23 years. Trust me, after five days, you REALLY need your weekends. Every job I have had since I have worked half as hard.

Looks fantastic! How's it sounding?

Looks fantastic! How's it sounding?

It's a LOT like a Les Paul with "zhing". Sustains forever, a lot thicker and throatier than the Hollow Cobra I think. On my HD 500 is sounds good through the Lux model, Great through the Dr. Z model, and AMAZING through the Bassman with the Dr. Z cab.

Honestly, I think I could ALMOST get by with a three way switch on this one, as I feel like I like it best in full humbucking mode, but the split sounds are quite useful. the bridge and neck pickups by themselves sound, I think, more stratty than tele-ish (which means it's a great compliment to my Hollow Cobra, which is tele-ish all the way).

I definitely think the HC1+/HC1- is the perfect pickup combo for this thing. I wouldn't want any "more".

The PowerBridge (normally unavailable on this model... sorry...) works much better on this guitar, I think, than it did on the one it was previously installed on for a short while.

And I dunno how he does it. It's almost LP-shaped, but hollow (I think the whole center is solid, however... am I wrong?), and yet, unlike LPs I've had in the past, the balance when you're sitting is just perfect.

And I'm definitely in love with the 60s vibe neck. I was a little concerned about that, but knew that I am pretty neck-agnostic as long as it's not TOO thin or TOO big. SO comfy to play.

glad you're enjoying it.
i think that it is hollow between the pickups too. i fiddled around with a few different versions but pretty sure that one is the final version.
the fishman bridge does add a little schzing on top compared to the regular tuna.
played my ct this weekend after a long departure and loved it. it so happens mine was the duplicate date of your 03-tom-08! a bit different guitar, all mahogany with a bigsby and solid.

yes, I think the powerbridge adds a teeny bit of "zing". But that makes the tone control all that much more useful to me...

Tom, if I do the math right, was this Hollow Atom CT made before the regular Atom CT was even released?

Bigsby... and all mahogany... oooooohh...

Really nice-love the les paulish color and the great flame. I haven't seen too many ct atoms (solid or hollow) around! Congrats in getting such a beauty!

i'm not sure how you figured that out, there is only one with an older date that has left here. there were two protos that have a little different carve on the top. i have one and tim pierce has the other. those two went to the namm show in january of that year. there is also a trans brown production version one dated a few weeks earlier than yours that is still here. here's a pic of mine.

pickups have been changed to a new super secret raw covered model. if we can figure out how to make them easier we may offer them. (the cover is not the super secret part)

Actually, that photo exaggerates the flame. It's understated and lovely, much like the awesome Bigsby equipped version that Tom showed off.

I figured it out by scanning a handful of old (and beautiful) GOTWs from 2008. So is mine the first hollow one then? WOW!

I have to say, I am actually over the LP look and layout (beautiful as it is), and prefer this functionality a LOT.

there is one other hollow ct out there that we did a year or so ago.

i too much prefer the layout and ergonomics of the ct. i kind of think gretch inspired looks instead of les paul.

I'm starting to feel downright privelaged...

Power bridge as in piezo? Is it being offered again?

tom
09-19-2012, 05:34 PM
it is a tunematic, which fishman makes regularly. we had to do a little fiddling to make the studs work so we'll wait to see how peter gets along with it before offering more.
as far as we know there is still no trem alternative available to us.

It is not... A certain Luthier I know jumped through hoops to modify and install a PowerBridge I supplied for this guitar. It's not a regular option.

(Someone was really really nice to me. It must have something to do with all those guys I tell to go buy a Crowdster!)

Played it ALL DAY yesterday..

Surprise! Even though it's hollow it's no slouch at medium to high gain! And of course, for clean and edge-of-breakup it is just WONDERFUL. I'll try to make some clips when I get a chance.

I'm going to evaluate it closely. Right now I'm in love, so I'm not very objective. Give me a few days or a couple weeks to see what I start to notice.

I agree. Fortunately, I have the Hollow Cobra when I want something different... but there's a "girth" to the arched top and tilt-back neck that is just rippin'... and still zhingy on top.
