The SO series were a hum cancelling single stacked pickup with Alnico pole pieces made for a short run back in the late '90s. It was supposed to have been a more traditional sounding pickup than the ones with neodymium pole pieces like the SD series.

I haven't heard one, but I assume it wasn't that big a hit or it would still be on the line up. Then again, the SDs aren't on the line up anymore either, and I like how they sound in my maple/basswood Drop Top.

The SA and SF series effectively replace all the older models. The SAs being a more modern sound and the SFs having more of the vintage flavour.
