Hello,
I'm "considering" trying this hybrid string gauge set. The guitar is currently setup with .010-.046.
I'd like to hear from any of you who have either tried these and stuck with them or didn't. I'm not a fan of .009-.042 string sets but the guitar in question needs a certain amount of relief to avoid fret buzzing and this is causing the plain strings to sit a bit higher than I'm used to(my Anderson, set up w/.010-.046 doesn't have this issue-Thanks Tom!).
So I'd appreciate your thoughts on this subject. I look forward to hearing from all of you. Thanks in advance!

I use 9 to 46 on my Hollow Cobra-S. I like the bass response of the wound strings and the lighter jangly highs of the smaller unwound strings. Bending feels the same as when using 9 to 42, and bass response sounds like the more forceful 10 to 46. Best of both worlds IMO.
A slight relief adjustment will probably be necessary to avoid the strings from buzzing when changing down from a higher gauge, or from being too high when changing up from a lower gauge. This is straight forward and involves a quarter turn at most on the truss rod.

Cool, thanks! The Cobra has a 24 3/4" scale, right? I'd like to also hear from the longer scale users.

Yep, Cobras are 24 3/4".
I use them on a regular Strat too, but I like Strats for their 'plinkiness' and the hybrid set gives the bass a little more 'authority'. If the Strat was my only guitar, I'd probably keep it strung with the hybrid 9-46 set. But, I use 9-42 on the Strat to thin it out a bit, and the let the Cobra-S handle the chugga bass.
My Drop Top w/ Floyd Rose is in the same boat, currently strung with 9-42. I've had 9-46 on there before, and might go back and try it again. I do remember liking the extra 'beefiness' at the time, but wasn't really using that guitar for heavy tone at the time, so I went back to 9-42.
I know I don't really go for 10-46, mainly because bending on 9s its more natural for me. But, also because I play fairly clean and like the lighter sound of thinner unwound strings. I'm not so fussed when it comes to the wound strings.
Why not just give it a try and see what you think? You can't hurt anything.
You don't have to reintonate the guitar straight away if you find you're not liking the sound. But, do adjust the truss rod so it doesn't buzz - this is easy as long as you don't put more than 1/4 of a turn into it. Less is more as it can take a few hours for the guitar to respond to the change. Read the info the website and search this forum for more detailed info on doing this.

You might also try a 9.5-44 set from D'Addario. It's a nice gauge for 25" scale guitars like PRSi....

I've decided to stick with .010-.046. I recently went with the Ernie Ball Cobalts. I'm thinking I'm really liking them so far. Nice slick feel to them.

just put some 10s pyramid nickle slyders on my ta classic. Great strings, bass strings a little fatter, e string wouldn't initially fit in nut till i tuned it up... roundwound, great feel, trying out after hearing all the rage around pure nickle. Next I want to try a set with the wound g string, really like the feel and sound of wound strings better..

since there is no more snake oil brand strings , I ordered Pyramid custom gauge .095 .115 .165 .26 .36 .46
but whatever strings I tried (and tried lot of them ) I always get back to Elixir for bass strings: D, A and E (.26 .36 and .46 . )
Hope Pyramid will fit well on treble side : E , B and G
