Wow, looks great and spacious. I travel to California frequently. I will need to stop by later in the year. Would love a tour if possible.

Cool, cool cool!!!!!!! How big is that main trunk for the dust collection? Looks at least 18 to 24 inches!! WOW!

tom
06-06-2012, 01:13 PM
everyone is always welcome here. we'll even have a room dedicated to amps and guitars(man cave).

main trunk line is 22", 40 hp collector with vfd to save power. the down draft benches will also feed into the collector. i want a really clean shop this time. taylor was huge influence on the collector and randy there was a big help in figuring out what to get.

Yea, you do deserve the new, and improved digs, Tom.

That said, you're still gonna PAY for them, too!! :D

All kidding aside, all the best to you, and your team with the move to the new "Andersonland".

Hmmmm....I wonder if a price increase is in the works because of this.

Not that I would complain about a price increase, it's as inevitable as April 15th on everything. Operating expenses go up prices go up. Has to be that way.

Great looking facility!!!

Still in Newbury park.

The move had to make sense without increasing volume. I do not want to feel like we HAVE to make more guitars. I suspect we will be able to just because it will be more fun, but that's not the motivating factor.

Shiney!!!!!!!!!!
So will the first guitar be a commemorative edition?

tom
06-07-2012, 08:09 AM
No, just the next one someone has been waiting for. I'm not much for special editions at inflated prices.

Each new shop is a great opportunity to use what you've learned towards designing a better work place.

I'm quite sure the new digs will be a great!

After my visit a few years back, and my Sisiter having to explain her "Mexican Food Gas" to Tom, I figured something with a bit more ventilation was in order:p

A new factory tour vid would be awesome. I've watched the old one like a hundred times! My Classic Short T is scheduled to be finished in Autumn so I guess it'll be even better now that it's gonna be built at the new shop ;)

Good luck with the move!

One of the best about having a successful business is being able to spend money on your business. I look at my family's business as not just a job or something I own. It's been a part of my family for 41 years, like member of the family. When I get the opportunity to improve the facility, it's like I'm buying a present for my child. And I get to enjoy the present too.

Tom, continued success to you and TAG

Mine is due "sometime in June". I wonder if mine will be the lucky first completed at the new shop (or maybe the last at the old shop). Either way, I am really excited to get it.

No, just the next one someone has been waiting for. I'm not much for special editions at inflated prices.

Just found out that my guitar is in final assembly this week, will be shipped out next week. It is in the last group of guitars to be completed at the current shop before moving to the new one. Roy describes it as, "gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous".

Hey, Tom, maybe you can put the spray booth in a glass room so people can watch the voodoo that you do. Kind of like the room they have at Martin which holds the automated buffing machines.

The poor Martin tour guide had to drag me away from that scene! (In fact, it was due to morbid curiousity that I was waiting to see if one of the guitars would to fly off its holders, kind of like what happens when I buff out guitars in my shop.)

Your post reminds me of the late 50s Fender factory footage - interesting contrast to today's shops and factories - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bucbA3JdWE0 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX0s19dyOpk

A big congrats and hip hip hooray to the entire "Team Tom" as they turn the page....bravo and big love to all!!

Now I feel bad for giving you a hard time, Tom... :(
Hope this week will be better and that you'll get some much needed sleep again. It sounds like another 1 week getaway is in order once the new shop is fully operational! Can't wait to visit and see the finished shop though!
