Found this on TGP (http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1061191)

09-25-98A has shown up on eBay and it says it is stolen on the Anderson serial number page.

Anyone know who is missing it?

The seller has volunteered to buying a high-end guitar from a yard sale... not a strong selling point.

I saved a copy of the auction and pictures to PDF in case the auction comes down. Hopefully someone will be reunited with their TAG soon.

I'll look up the owner info when I get to the shop. See if we can get them connected.

FWIW the seller has a pretty good reputation. It may be that he came across it honestly.

No problem Tom, I won't delete it until this is resolved. If i need to forward it to the owner or someone else just let me know.

Awesome! Hopefully the rightful owner can get his or her guitar back. Also the serial number feature allowing a stolen status notification is a brilliant idea.

I took a copy of the web archive as well.

Hopefully the original owner gets it back.

just spoke to a detective in the area, they are on it. the guy actually had two guitars stolen. got one back fairly quickly. this is the same detective, he's hoping for a 2 for 2 record.

Customer service of the highest order right there!! I don't care who you are, you're not going find customer service like that at very many other places, if any.

Looking at the guys other listings on eBay it looks like he cruises yard/garage sales and then flips the stuff on eBay.

How come I can never find a TAG at a yard sale? The ones I have been to only had stained baby clothes, broken tools, and paisley couches.

I spoke with the seller on Ebay, he says the guitar is now in police custody.
It seems like it was an honest mistake.

Now Tom, when are you having a yard sale?

Tom,

To make it a little easier to be on the lookout for stolen Andys what do you think of keeping a list on either the forum or website. Just a simple text page with serial number, model, color and maybe even a e-mail link to the rightful owner?

I'm just imagining it would be something a person could check on a smartphone real quick or even print out the page and keep in their wallet.

Just a thought, Rob

not sure everyone would want their contact info shared.
they are all marked on the serial number search. i had 4 emails and several message board posts within hours and we were able to contact the owner in less than 24 hours. that seems like a pretty good simple system.
