oh yes i remember those! we called them fishbone tops. there was a particular wood cutter that we used to see those every so often. it follows the logic that the figure is a genetic anomaly, so you tend to see similar things in proximity to one another. we did a lot of the early firebursts with that wood. have not seen any of it for quite some time.

I think it is an excellent choice for bora bora, deep ocean or atlantic storm..as the seller describes..it looks like the "wake" from the neck pickup! Tom, you could do some interesting NAMM pieces now if you could find somemore of this..just sayin'..;)
