Hi all. I've recently been shopping humbuckers for my strat while I'm in a holding pattern in my search for the right TAG.
I stumbled across a nicely priced H3, but I'm afraid it'll be too hot to pair with a couple of A5 single coils wound to whatever stock is.
Vintage hot, brown sound, with good splitting is what I'm after.
Should I hold out for an H2+?
Thanks to any and all.

Brown sound is more in the HO/HF category. The regular H series needs EQing to get the appropriate mid push, subdued highs and backed off lows for a good brown sound.

Think Mesa Boogie (H series) vs Marshall (HO/HF series), both set at a medium gain.

That being said, I prefer the H2+ for rocking out.

I have an H2+ in my Hollow Cobra (I put one in another guitar years ago) and a buddy has an H3 in a solid Cobra S. The sound of the H2+ is way way better for me. The H3, though, is nice if you like dark and loud.
