Hi guys, I'm new to the forum here! Been a long time fan of Anderson guitars but have never got around to ordering one yet till now. The one that pushed me over the edge was my friend's Cobra T that I've tried, I decide that I definitely have got to get myself a Classic S by all means necessary!

It wasn't that easy for myself, as I'm saving up for an apartment and tying the knot by next year. The missus is all cool with the guitar order, but I was a little hesitant as it means eating into the amount that I'll be putting aside every month for the big day.

She said, "why not send in your specs and get a quote first? We'll see if it's a price that you're comfortable with".

Spoke to Jack from Northeast with the specs that I have and he was very patient with my order. Called up the Supreme Commander for some specs advice; specifically about the fret size, pickups and chocolate maple neck. Tom was really awesome and helpful with my enquiries, made me felt right at home and really pleasant over the phone.

So without further ado, here's my Classic S specs due in June.

Model - Classic
Body Finish - Metallic Orange
Body Wood - Alder
Neck Wood - Maple
Neck Finish - Satin Back
Nutwidth - 1 5/8 in
Frets - Medium
Back Shape - Even Taper
Hardware - Chrome
Bridge - Vintage Tremolo
Pickguard - Black
Pickups - SC1 SC1 H2+
Switching - 5 Way w/ VA Boost

I know, it reminds us a little bit like a Charvel So-Cal with the metallic finish and black guard. I've always been a big fan of the music from the 70s right up to the 80s, you could say it's the soundtrack of my childhood :p Plus most of my heroes had hotrodded strats to begin with, guys like Michael Landau...Tim Pierce and Dann Huff in their heydays were all over the place with some sort of strat in their hands. Thus my order for a Classic S, to tide me over my new phase in life very soon. What better guitar to get, an Anderson of course!

Here are a couple of my vids, I can't wait to bring the Anderson out for gigs and do more videos once I get it! 4 months is just too long!!!

I think you are going to be quite happy with that guitar and your style of playing. Certainly will look cool! And it will certainly be a nice compliment to the Suhr, that is certain.

Great playing and tone BTW. Enjoyed it.

Welcome to the forum!

That Suhr is up for sale as we speak, unfortunately. I've made a conscious decision to thin the herd and am going to keep only a handful of guitars. No doubt, I got lots of ribbing from my friends......is there ever a case of enough lol

Thanks danno! That tone is all from the Eleven rack, it's a godsend for practicing at night!

Congratulations on the new guitar, the new marriage, etc.
And thanks for the videos. I really appreciated those. "III Sides to Every Story" is one of my all-time faves and you definitely did it justice.

Welcome,4 months is a lot better than 8-11 for Suhr. 80's guy and no Floyd? How are you liking the Adams A3s? I have them also but was thinking about upgrading for a little more low end.

markus: We don't have baseball over here in Singapore :D

guitarzan: Thanks for the well wishes! I checked out your website and some really cool playing right there, especially in the Line6 demo. Coming from a player like you, it's a huge encouragement for me. III Sides is one of my most favourite album from them too!

dav: Maybe I was lucky, I got my Suhr with a lead time of around 4 months back then. Yup, no Floyd at all...can't be bothered with spending time to balance the bridge and restringing is a nightmare for me. I'm using the first gen A7, it's about right for my room. I do bring my music/post mixes back to the studio for final tweaks, but that's work and I don't really wanna mess up the delivery by depending on my home set up.

Briggs: I'm definitely looking forward to June, in fact it's all that's on my mind now that the order's place. Will need some advice on how to keep those thoughts away.

kccheers: Wow!!!!! I was looking high and low for Metallic Orange finishes and all I get to see are the 2 Classics in the GOTW archives. If you don't mind me being selfish, is there a link where I can see more of your Anderson in that finish?

Now that we're all here, my name is Edmund. I believe this is the Anderson Anonymous, any advice to help me with the 4 month wait? :p

Do you have television? :D
Jokes aside, I also have a Metallic Orange Pro Am 7 and absolutely love the color - and the guitar in general of course as well! Here she is...

Congrats again, on the guitar and also on your approaching wedding!

yup we have, but none of MLB and NFL at all. Television is extremely boring around here, you've gotta rent a top box set for cable channels and pay more for the popular channels.

Thanks for sharing the pic, your Pro Am7 looks stunning! I would assume it looks more of the darker shade in person, and the lighter shade under well lit conditions?

On a side note, has anyone ordered their Anderson with the deluxe gig bag? How's the verdict on it as I've opted for it instead of the usual hard case.

I was just kidding! :D
I do live in San Francisco, so for my Pro Am 7 there is a SF Giants connection, even though I'm not a huge MLB fan myself.
Anyway, I'd say the guitar is probably not glowing in this reddish tint as much as seen in the picture, but the shade is actually not that much darker in person. Here's another pic I just took with my iPhone a few minutes ago under less ideal lighting... hope this helps.

:D My fiancee do drops by SF from time to time due to work, I do wish there's a way for her to pick up the guitar instead of shipping it internationally all the way to Singapore. The shipping costs a bomb!

Really appreciate the pics provided, definitely the finish that I'm shooting for after viewing them! Oddly enough, I was really keen to jump on the DT7 when Tom was offering them again not too long ago but decided to spend it on an amp. This time I'm definitely getting an Anderson for sure

sorry to hijack here but Marcus that orange Pro Am looks great! The black hardware really makes that guitar.

Thanks Dav! :) It had to be an Orange & Black guitar no matter what, but I agree that the black hardware makes the look of this beauty! Thanks again!

Help me out here guys. I'm trying to figure if I should go for a HSH instead of the SSH. Since the VA Boost switch can split all pickups, the H-S-H setup will give me 2 sets of sound (HSH and SSS).

I know I'm definitely going for the H2+ in the bridge and it splits pretty well from the clips that I've checked out. The neck will most likely stay as a SC1(feel free to suggest). If I'm looking for a humbucker in the neck that splits well and can balance the H2+ in the bridge, which models should I be looking at?

Preferably something not too flubby or muddy. Or should I just stay put with the SSH config? I'm definitely using this guitar for lots of pop, blues and rock stuff, thus the initial decision of spec'ing for a SSH. The HSH only recently just crossed my mind, so many more options but I wonder if I'm compromising anything tonally?

Suggestions and advice definitely welcomed!

Just spoke to Tom recently about this. I've decided to go with a H-S-H configuration, H1 SC1 H2+.

It gives me the option of a S-S-S sound when needed, and also H-S-H as my main sound. The only compromise would be the neck humbucker tone, as a H1- will suit what I want but the H1 when split balances better with the other pickups.

And now...back to the wait :(

I'm sure it will sound great!!!

If you can not think about it the wait goes by pretty quickly, except for the time after you find out it's been shipped!!!

I never thought that an H-S-H would be for me since I really like a single in the neck position most of the time. I also like a PAF type H in the neck now and then. I think someone here posted a link to a demo of an H-S-H config'd TAG that just sounded great with neck H split. Next time I'll probably go with H-S-H.

Thanks Jack, well the problem is it's too hard for me to take my mind off it :p

dplight, I reckon it's this video here?

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/T5gQCmKnCSs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I was really sold on the HSH w/ VA booster idea after hearing it in action. I'm also a fan of the single coil neck tone, especially with fuzz and octavia. I'm just being greedy and want my Anderson to be a workhorse, so 2 sets of tones seems like a good option. Although I doubt I'll use the add bridge function most of the time.

If time permits, I might do a video going through the switching options on the Classic when it arrives. If I'm not wrong, that's the only video that showcases a HSH in action....most of the other Andersons showed in videos are usually SSH.

Yes to the bag. tons of pockets, light weight, handle, over the shoulder carrying options, heavy duty zippers, don't think I'll ever get a hard shell again. highly recommend. congrats on your new order!

+1 to the gigbag. I took the chance getting the guitar sent to hawaii from southern cal. based on the gig bag threads on this forum. My dealer even asked if I was sure and I said yes. I was a little apprehensive at first but am glad i took the plunge.

Awesome case with lots of padding. When you open the case, it looks a little bit underwhelming in terms of form fitting and hard padding. However, when zipped up, its pretty impressive as to how sturdy the padding is. The outside shell can basically take anything. As someone mentioned too, the guitar absorbs falls better in the gig bag.

The only negative is storing insomuch as it will not fit nicely under the bed and it cant be stacked in the closet.

thanks for the assurance on the gig bag, looks like it's definitely the way to go. I stay in an apartment and space is king. At least the bag double up as a safe way to lug the guitar around.

Latest update: Sorry to disappoint guys, I've changed my finish to Metallic Charcoal. Been flipping both the orange and charcoal around and finally decided on charcoal this time. Who knows, I might get a metallic orange or a orangey stained Cobra the next time if finances allows!

Actually, the hard case is a better space saver because the gig bag is a bit thicker and the front pockets make it difficult to stack other guitars on top of it. It is too thick to fit under my bed too.

As for the color, metallic charcoal is awesome too! Congrats again!
