Hi ppl,

I have a mate who has a HF pickup that he is trying to troubleshoot.

Regarding the cable that is attached to the 4 terminals, does it have a shield that is attached to the back of the pickup?

We know the shield is attached to the black wire for series operation on the other end (ie to the back of a pot) but is it then attached to the back of the pickup and if so, where?

Here is a photo of a H1 I have:

Is the shield perhaps hidden behind the metal retainer in the top left corner that screws to the pickup?

Many thanks.

no hidden connections. the shield is connected at the control end only.

Thanks Tom,

That helps- although it looks like there is a fault with the pickup.
Is there someone in the UK who you recommend to take a look?

anyone with an ohm meter should be able to read the coils to see if one has failed. read between red and green, then between black and white. readings should be the same+- a few. if one is reading open, no reading, try heating up the joints and add just a bit of new solder.

Ok, thanks very much.

My mate replied with "i've put a meter across both coils and both are open circuit".
He thinks that the previous owner burned the coil, I am guessing by leaving an iron on for too long.

Any suggestions?

i'd still try re heating the joints with some new solder. it could be a cold joint.
