Hi guys. I just "took the plunge" and got a great deal on an Eleven Rack last week, and was planning on using it with one of my QSC K10's... but I'd also like to try using it with a power amp and my Orange 1x12 cab (and then mic it through the PA). I know that cab will color the tone some, but a lot of people have said that it feels more like a 'real' amp live if you use a guitar cab with a power amp vs. a full range powered speaker.

I'm new to power amps and was wondering if you guys could suggest a good one to use with the Eleven Rack or amp sims in general... and does tube vs. solid state matter much tonally with those?

I actually have an almost new Crown XLS1000 stereo power amp already. Would that do the job???

Thanks in advance for any advice! Oh, and I'm still looking for the right midi foot controller... and am open to suggestions on that (preferably not something expensive). And can you use a regular wah pedal with a digital rig?? If so, I'm going to stick with my Vox or Crybaby... and won't have the need for a foot controller with a built-in expression pedal.

Congrats on the 11r! If you haven't already, download the Expansion Patch as it adds some really good amp models.

I typically use the 11r into a pair of studio monitors, but sometimes use a Fender Pro Junior amp, which gives the tube warmth and is fairly transparent to the 11r tones.

For a dedicated power amp, I know that the VHT/Fryette tube power amps are popular and the Mesa Simul 2:90 gets some good reviews too for use with Modelers. If you are looking for Solid State, then there are a number of good options out there, depending on the investment you want to make.

For any modeler, I'd stick with the FRFR monitor. It's going to be the most satisfying experience.

That crown power amp, would probably do the job, too. Just watch the volume

Matrix GT1000FX is the latest and greatest for a truly flat response. I am using one to slave stock 73 NMV Marshall and Blackstar 100W Artisan Head with very good results. Does seem to alter or color the tone at all. The Matrix was conceived for guitar uses and tailer spec for that....its def worth checking out.

How's that 11r treating you? As for power amps (sorry I'm late on this) I know that Tosin from Animals As Leaders uses Port City Amps for when he wants stage volume with his Axe FX. Works really well. Maybe works the same with 11r.
