I aired this out on TGP, so please ignore if you spotted it there. It was too funny not to share.

We had a gig last Friday. There was a nice guy who was talking to me before the gig - I hadn't met him before. I was hustling around trying to get setup and was kinda half-listening to him. I realized his voice was really LOUD though. He said he could only stay for a song or two, but kept offering to buy the band (and other customers) drinks. Works for me.

Anyway, we start off with our opening song (we play classic rock covers) and it's not uncommon for folks to know the songs we do. Anyway...this guy is singing along SO loudly, I can clearly hear him as I'm up front singing. His harmonies actually sounded pretty close to the original (but still pretty bad) in certain parts. It was funny at first, then it got annoying. He finally left after the first set. In talking to the owner after the gig, he said this guy shows up from time to time, is relatively harmless, and they ask him to leave if he's there for more than an hour. He was drinking Southern Comfort, so not sure if that contributed to his antics, or if he was just plain nuts.

I was kind of afraid to even watch this, but someone recorded the guy - this was about halfway through the 1st set...before he started dancing...alone.

...and to make matters worse, this is one of my favorite songs to sing, and this guy was singing louder than me (and without a mic...) in parts of it. The dude had some power. You can just hear him singing/yelling random words and noises.

If you ever need to feel appreciated by the crowd, let me know and I'll get you in touch with our new pal. He just seemed so happy to be there!!!

Hope once you check it out you have half the fun that he did that night !!!!

OK. I'll try to offer alittle defense for the poor guy. He looks like a music lover who wishes he could sing and play alittle guitar, but knows full well that that is not going to happen at this point in his life. So-----he drinks, and tries to sing with the band. Actually had some un-intentional harmony going on there. (Didn't he? Maybe? Well, maybe not.) Anyway, at least he was listening to the band---which is more than I can say for many of the audience members our band plays to.

And yes-------he sounded terrible. But was having fun.

On a totally different subject: I loved your guitar sound on the Marvin Gaye tune.

Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah, when I talked to the guy before the gig, he seemed pretty cool and normal, albeit a bit LOUD. I've just never had that happen before, and wasn't exacly sure how to handle it without embarrassing someone (including myself). We're just a neighborhood cover band, having fun with friends and family - only play out once a month - 3 hours...35-40 songs with one break. I personally wouldn't want to gig anymore than that (well, I play at a catholic church every Sunday morning...but that's a different game for sure...plus I can leave my amp there!!!). I have herniated disks in my back and lugging two guitars and two amps (and all the vocal stuff and stands) does wear me out the next day. I'm old. ;) We have gig next week...we'll see what kind of excitement that stirs up.

Pietro...it's gonna be at the Runway Restaurant & Bar at the Butler County Airport...that's something different, eh?

GASMAN, thanks for the very kind words as well. I absolutely love that Hollow T playing out live...I can get a really nice Strat or Tele sound...and then some. Wish my playing was a bit better tho....

Wow, your description was actually much nicer than the video. Watching it I would think the guy had some mental health issues. Tough if you are trying to play.

The guy was having a good time, working out some inner musician frustrations. I hope for the sake of his neighbors that his shower is soundproofed
