How can I make sure it's the p/u that is broken? Even if I ground the green and white without using the switch is dosen't split. Is there a way to check this p/u with my DVM? I bought it used off ebay. Thanks for any help on this.

I'll get you the wiring diagram for the guitar when I get to the shop tomorrow. For testing the pickup, black should be ground. Red is hot. Green and white together for series, and short to ground for split. If you're not getting a change when shorting to ground, are you sure both coils are on when they're not shorted?

it's reading 7.5 K but it sounds like a full humbucker sound? I was going to take it out of the guitar and measure it. to measure it, I put red on one probe and black to the other and green and white together, right? Should it read higher then 7 K? thanks for the time on this.

Sounds like you're reading one coil only. Try reading between black and the green white junction. I suppose it's possible but unlikely that the lead wires were moved on the bottom of the pu. If you get no reading, try heating up the joints on the bad coil and adding some fresh solder. Let me know what you find.

you nailed it, someone switched green and black on the P/U? I resoldered and got 7K on each side 14 K total. Just put it in and it sounds great. I don't know why someone would do this? Just happy I got the pick up working. thanks again for your help and time on this, your great! :) :) :)

Yes I'd still like to have it.(no rush when ever is good for you) can you tell me, what 5 way switch, is in my guitar? I'm going to buy a back up. born on date -(6-24-99P) it's still working fine but, has been resoldered a lot. Sounds like sand in it, when I switch it. Is this the switch http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Components:_Switches_and_knobs/Super_Switch.html?actn=100101&xst=3&xsr=573
Thanks again
