thanks for the heads up. That's tempting with a very nice price. Nice weight too-not too wimpy light, but not too heavy either at 8 lbs 11 ounces-like a nice R9 weight!! I gotta say- those bulldogs looks sweet!!

Heads up. Just checked their website. They sold that same guitar and under the sold section they list it at just UNDER 8 LBS. So probably should be 7lb. 11 oz FWIW.

Thanks for the clarification. I have always thought a les paul at about 9 lbs even was optimal. More than that is hard on the back, less than that, you lose some of the ballsiness IMHO.

Gone by the time I stopped in. But I played the Short T they have in stock - most excellent. Very toneful in all 5 positions - plus, the setup and playability were phenomenal. It felt soooooo good and great fun to play!
With tone and oneness, Mike

It's a great guitar and plays better than any Gibson I've owned, it's just soooooooooo comfy and plays like a dream. And it's got THAT fat tone. All the Gibson drones who bring up that fact that it's a bolt-on are just giving an opinion based on zero fact.

Danyeo , I agree 100 % !!!!!
after six-seven months of playing my Bulldog (HC1,HC3 as well) , I've been used every occasion to play and compare each and every LP I can find - in the stores or from guys who own it .
With each and every next LP I tried , I loved my Bulldog more and more .
What a superior instrument !!!
I would like to say thanks again to Tom &Roy and the gang for making decision of building gibsonesque :D type of guitar .
In opposite , I will stay S type guitar player for ever
Enjoy !

Great axe danyeo
I wanted to play devils advocate and defend the les pauls
So I played my LP custom shop custom and my bulldog (Goldy) before posting this
The Bulldog is superior in (almost) every aspect
I still love the look of my black beauty--its a piece of history--but it ends there
(Goldy is a pretty good looker too!)
Bulldog-much smoother in my hands, lighter, better balanced and MUCH MORE VERSATILE!!--i find myself looking for VA boost and pickup switching (series /parallel) only to be disappointed
LP still a great guitar
Bulldog is just in a different league
Anyway Goldy is calling!

Yes, i love the look of a Les Paul Custom but the damm things NEVER stay in tune, the necks are like baseball bats, and forget about upper string access. I don't care anymore that my hero's played Gibson's. I'm playing what feels and sounds best for me.
And sure, there's some great sounding LP's out there. But for every good one I'm willing to bet there's 5 duds. I've picked up soo many LP's in GC's and egh, soo many did nothing for me. I guess that's what you get when they come off an assembly line and they're not given the attention to detail like an Anderson.

Thats me to a "T". I'm a huge Allman brothers fan. But LP's just don't do it for me. Thats why I settled on the Cobra. Mahogany Body, Maple Top with a 24'3/4 scale.......but it has that bolt on feel I just love. Its got the Boldness of a humbicker sound with no Muddiness. I just Love it. Sold my last ever LP , a 58 R8 RI this past weekend. It was a great LP and I kept it around because everyone says you need to have at least one. Nope. I saw a KILLER Yellow Flame Top Cobra That i was admiring for months. Made the swap Yesterday and looking forward to getting it this week. I won't even look back.
Gibson is too busy making what a guitarist 40-50 yrs ago played. Tom is busy making New Guitars that have much improved playability and I believe Better feeling and sounding as well.

Between This model and the Bulldog, TAG has the LP market beat to death IMO.

I got a 99' Hollow Cobra a couple of years ago and when I first played it, I thought that it was what a LP always wanted to be. With the light weight, comfortable body contours, outrageously great neck and fret work, and great electronics it is one of my favorites.
I think Tom got it right early on with the Drop Tops and Cobras being his answer to the Strat and LP.

Love the Trans Yellow Cobra...always had an eye out for one like that but no sign of one across the pond here. Great score. Not had a Cobra since 1995 :(

Thanks! Love it. I got screwed by the guy who sold it to me, but I'm so stoked with the guitar , I don't even care.
He said it came with a Spec sheet (COA) and there is none to be found. I also made a deal, my R8 LP for the Cobra + $200. He said he would put it in the case. I've seen him around the forums and made the Leap of faith. Got the guitar No Money, No spec sheet. he stopped answering my Emails as well. I'm done with guitar trading. All in all I was pretty lucky , could have been much worse. The Guitar is amazing , better then I had hoped actually. 9 ys old and not a scratch, No wear. Sounds Killer. So much better then the Les paul IMO.
You know what I dig about Tom? He makes guitars for players. In the Middle Position only it splits the coils. At first I was like.......why doesn't it split them all? But while playing I don't have to mess with the Coil Tap. The Middle spilt has the BEST Rhythm Tone. Then to play lead or just a fill you just hit the switch down and BANG! I Love it. No muddiness. The 5 way just offers so much more then a LP ever could. Just found out it has a Piezo too. Now I just got to figure out how to make it work!
I'm saving my Pennies for a Short T next! Sea foam green/Birdseye maple neck.

Birdseye maple neck.
Hmmmmm......I thought that was a no, no from the Supreme Commander?!?!
Correct, no birdseye here. I dont trust it enough to be responsible for it forever.

Cool, I was just Daydreaming a bit. ;) I'd settle for some Vintage tint on the maple . :D

What are the problems with birdseye maple? ive always wondered why you never use it.
some is fine, some is not. what looks visually ok may not be, especially over time. because it has irregular grain it bends where it wants to bend. because we think our guitars should last a really long time and play great their whole life i can not depend on it.
