I was thinking about trying out these strings:

Anyone ever tried these? I am tuning my DT7 to standard with a low A instead of standard B (very common tuning with 7 stringers these days) & I'm finding it hard to find the proper gauge for that string. The .056 from Tom & Elixir was way too slinky for that tuning. I switched to D'Addario 10-59 set and that helped (despite D'Addario being horrible compared to Elixir) but it's still a little slinky & inconsistent tuning wise. Who can make a low A string that's like .060 or maybe .062 I should try? Plus, how big of a string can the tuning peg hold? I know there will be the need of a nut adjustment going to .060+ for sure. Help me! Haha

the locking tuners will take the elixir .068 from the baritone set. i think the .068 does not fit in the non locking tuners.

Geez! A .068?! Well that may be too insane for my guitar. Maybe not though...

Thanks for the info Tom.

Its tuned to a B on the baritone, so it wouldn't be as tight on the 7.

Should be less tension going down to 25.5'' on my 7 AND tuning down to A. I'd love to try out the .068 but there's probably no way to do that without widening the nut for it first though. Gonna have to take it to my tech guy until I get handy enough to do all those things on my own. Learning, but definitely NOT on my Andersons haha. ;)

Yeah, that would be a commitment to that gauge.

Talked to the Elixir guys. They said a 0.068 on a 25.5" scale tuned to A would provide 17.7 lbs of string tension, which falls in line with the rest of the strings. I think I'm gonna go for it. Gotta take it to my tech though for the nut adjustments/setup. I'll let you all know how it goes :)
