Hey guys, so I've got a clasic that I love, but I've been using it as a go to guitar for multi-style playing. I've been trying a duncan hot rails in there, I know, I know, but I had it lying around, and thought I'd give it a shot, but it's a bit too dark. I'm wondering, what TAG pickups would be good for a fatter fuller sound from the bridge without losing too much top end. It originally had a va12 in the guitar, and I loved it for clean work, but for overdrive it was just a touch too thin. Thanks in advance for any help you guys could give,
Kurt

You could always try the TAG booster module. That's pretty good at fattening up what's already there while keeping your old sound when deactivated.

If you don't mind changing the pick guard, there's always the M2/M3 (or H series) for real humbucking 'fatness'.

Either way, the inclusion of the boost and/or kickback modules gives a huge level of versatility when moving between 'fat' and 'thin' sounds where required.

Hey, can the booster module work on anderson pickups only, or does it work on other brands? Also, how difficult is it to install, and what's the cost? Thanks,
Kurt

I switched from the VA1 VA1 VA2 PUPS to the VA2 VA2 VA3 PUPS in one of my classics.. VA3 is nice and full, but still quite vintage sounding. I know it is not the same as the VA1/2 VA 2/3, but close enough. Very happy with this change, and it retains the true single coil sound.

So, how different are the va5's from the SF's? Wish there were some comparison vids somewhere, to get an idea. Thanks for all the help guys,

I have VA5's in another Classic. I also have a handful of Fender CS 60's Strats. One of the Strats I recently did a side by side with an actual 1962 Strat, played through an old Bassman. They sounded REMARKABLY similar. The shop owner was taken aback by it, as was I.

Funny thing is, the Anderson Classic sounds just like that Strat too. Just plays better.

All the tone, none of the aggravation...

So, can anyone compare for me, the va12 that I had in there, to the SF3 or Va5's? Thanks, for all the help,
Kurt

i had va12's in a classic. thought they were very nice for clean tones, but were extremely noisy with gain turned up. i don't think they were as full as the sc3. the sc3 was a fuller, humcancelling single sized pup.
wasn't as big as a bucker, but it sounds great. :)
