Probably a question for Tom. I am concerned about some news I recently heard.
Mothers Music has been bought out by a certain big box music retailer. Are you looking for a new dealer in the western side of Canada?
we have not heard anything from mothers in quite some time. who is the buyer, and did you have anyone in mind as a new dealer?

They had a guy named Kevin that took care of the TAG's in Calgary but he appears to have left the store. They guys that took over seem apathetic to higher end pieces of any sort. The buyer is in Edmonton but his name escapes me....Paul? That may be it.
There are a couple great candidates in Calgary: Music Center Canada and Guitarworks are the first that come to mind. Both stores have great staffs that know their stuff. Mother's old Manager now works for Guitarworks...he already knows the line. Calgary is an oil town, lots of cash here. Your guitars do sell in these parts.
Thanks much for the info. I will have roy contact them.
I know mothers in Calgary has said they aren't really trying to stock them anymore and are blowing out the few they've got. Some killer deals on a cobra, atom ct and hollow atom. It seemed to me when I was in there that they were too high quality for most of their target market and their staff really didn't know them well... I had to correct the knowedgable sales guy on a few details. Either way, another Canadian dealer or two wouldn't be a bad thing!

I have had that experience too. The last order they placed was really blinged out....not really the sort of stock that will appeal across the board.
Sad really. I hope another dealer opens up.
It looks like the mother's chain has been bought out by Long and McQuade as of May 1st, so I'll be interested to see if we can get another dealer out in this area of Canada at some point. There are still a few good smaller shops around that do boutique stuff, though their becoming harder to find...
would love to hear about any cool stores out west.
