Is it ok to just de-solder/remove the two components on the volume knob?...not really my thing...alters the sound a bit volume full up...to my ears at least

If you are SURE you don't like the cap/resistor then it will be easier to just clip it out.
Even if you are an expert at soldering and you choose to de-solder the resistor/cap, you still have to deal with the input and output wires on the pot legs because they can melt/distort easily.
*My recommendation FWIW below*
Just clip one end of the resistor/cap to 'remove' it from the circuit. That way you can re-solder later if you decide you want to return it back to 100% stock. You can also do quick A/B tests to see if in fact you really like or dislike the cap/resistor.

Thanks Bruce...I will try your recommendation...boy..I tell ya man...just had some new TA pots I just purchased installed by the local tech...I'm still having a connection/pot cut in and out issue...I'm losing it! ...When my volume pot is all the way off(seems to be mostly on the bridge pickup)..it seems as if when I'm on the fly or "rougher" with it...it will cut in sporadically, when it is not supposed to...the guy checked for loose wire...or at least I paid him to...any ideas?..bad pickup wire?...

If the pot is turned OFF and it's cutting IN sporadically then I would look at the pot. Those terminals are sensitive and if they get bent (like bending the ground lug to solder it to the casing), it can break the trace. Another thing is if solder flux gets splashed inside the pot opening it can impair the pot from operating properly.
My 3 cents.
