My New Andy – She’s Like a Smooth Stretch of Highway

Well four years after Tom helped me decide on the specs for my dream Droptop Classic, I finally bought it and let me tell you every aspect of the experience has been wonderful. It was an ebay purchase from another Andy fan who lovingly kept it for me for a few years. He sent it in the original box with the heavy duty foam end-caps (who does that?). I then pulled out the guitar case and even the handle had the feel of quality. Then opening the case, the beauty of the velvet interior, a plastic fretboard cover and I haven’t gotten to the guitar yet!

Wow what a beautiful top and the pickguard complimented the top so well. Then I got to play it. I’ve heard people write about how Tom’s guitars play like butter but all I could think of was a line from one of my favorite Little Feat songs “She’s like a smooth stretch of highway, like a cool southern breeze…”

Tom, kudos to you and your company for making incredible products and doing it in a way that reflects your values.

The guy who sold me this guitar says “You can never have just one Anderson” and he’s probably right. I see an Atom CT in my future.

Well I’ve adopted another TAG. Must be like potato chips, “Nobody can have just one”. As with my Drop Top Classic everything from picking up the case to tuning it up and playing was the best. The first Sunday at church even non-guitar people were turning there heads to see what they were hearing in the monitors.

I did an A/B with my early 80’s Tokia Les Paul, which I really liked and there was just no comparison in the playability. Play above the 12th fret and it’s not a fair fight. As I’ve seen in other posts, “the guitar doesn’t fight me”. Add a 5 Way, Pull on Tone Knob splits middle position and Gibson should just give up at this price point.

Tom, kudos to the team for making the best electrics on the planet.
