Hi,
I have a Anderson hollow drop top T with a VA5 and TV3 in it, a great combination. I am looking for a alternative to the VA5 and the TV3 to put in a non Anderson thinline tele but without the hum? what is the closest in terms of sound to these two which are hum free? i realise the pickguard on the thinline will need altering to put a VA5 type pickup in instead the a Tele lipstick pickup.
Thanks.

i just put tf series pups in a tele. they sound soooo mint!! maybe a tf1 and a tf2 as a suggestion? i did the tf3 in the bridge for something diff. i'm really happy with how it sounds. the twang is still great and with a bit more gain, it is 'gloriously hum-free'!! :)

Thanks,
I still need a bit of guidance eher, a couple of things i dont know, is the TF series similar in sound to the VA5 for the neck position? and what does reverse winding on pickup combinations do?
Thanks

this morning i gave my tele a whirl and it was quite nice and articulate. i was really happy with it.
it has tf1 in the neck and tf3 in the bridge. i am honest when i say i can't give the tf1 neck a comparison to a va5. i was turned off of va's and have since changed all my single coils to sc's and sf's because there is no hum.
i also have finished 2 strat projects with sc's.
bridge tf3 was twangin' and grindin' nice.
output wise, i'm sure someone will chime in with the output comparisons.
hope some of that may have helped?! :)

Thanks for that again,
Problem is i have a VA5 in the neck which i love so how can i tell if SC, SF or TF 1 is the way to go???? the fact its a thinline tele its going is doesn't matter but the strat/VA5 sound is what i'm looking for.
Maybe someone else can chime in please?
Thanks

Can a TF1 be bought with a coffee dipped cover for a tele style guitar?

none of the tele lead pickups have covers, all are exposed black bobbins.
the va5 is not the same sound as the sf or sc. they are our best efforts to do what we like about vintage style pickups but without some of their worts. i'm sure some would miss those worts, but i personally do not.

Thanks Tom
Well if i want a VA5 with the hum free sound in a coffee dipped cover which would be the closest choice? Dont get me wrong i could easily put the VA5 in if there is nothing similar?
Thanks again

if it has to have a cover, the only choice is the SC1-. they are smoother than the va, which for me is good.

Those of us who like whisky would definitely miss those worts!
