What didnt you like about the Dirty Bomb? I loved the sample sounds I heard on the site and I already have a Direct Drive which I love also. Is the DB similar? Too gainy, not enough? Tell me what you didn't like??
I am selling some pedals and was oing to get some more Barber stuff. If you are intersted in trade, I may do an even swap for either my MI Audio Crunchbox or a Fulltone OCD?
thanks-Shaun

Hi Shaun,
I tend to struggle with very high gain pedals. The Dirty Bomb is one of those pedals that, in my studio, sounded good. But, for whatever reason, it just didn't work in my live rig. It's WAY high gain. More than DD.
I'm sure it's just me -- the way I play and the nature of my rig.
Mostly, I need the high-gain stuff for live gigs and not so much in the studio.
The OCD didn't work for me, live or studio.
I have a Crunch Box and used it live for a while; but, could never get comfy with it in the studio.
My most recent high-gain fav is the Wampler Pinnacle II.
I don't know if any of this makes sense; but, depending on the rig (live or studio) some pedals just work well, immediately, and some I struggle with. Then, after a while, I sell the ones that I struggled with.
btw, I'm a big Barber fan. Have used the Tone Pump, Small Fry, Burn Unit and Tone Press a LOT. Always something Barber on the pedalboard!
Right now I'm trying to get David Barber to build me a box with Tone Pump channel 1, and Burn Unit channel 2.

No worries. The CB and OCD are too gainy for me. the Dirty Bomb didn't sound much more gainy that the DD. The burn unit didn't work for me though. I need to try a small fry?? Anyway, Big Barber fan here too. Love my Tone press, LTD Black and DD! Good luck bro! Cheers!

the small fry is just half a burn unit but does have an extra toggle. probably pretty close to the bueq sounding.

Tom, good info on the small fry, thanks! Have you tried the Dirty Bomb? On the sample it sounded to have a little more gain that the DD, but seemed to have a more scooped sound? anyone ever tried the Direct Drive SS? David appears to be doing some custom shop stuff now that I wish he'd put some samples out on the net...?

have not tried that one, sounds like more gain than i'm after.

The DDSS is a wonderful sounding OD and can be run as a fairly clean boost, too. Just because it can go 90 miles an hour, doesn't mean it's not great at 50, as well!

Now I, on the other hand, am looking for something VERY Marshally to compliment my KOT for those times when nothing else will do.
Let's trade. I have pups, speakers, studio gear, small junk yard dog.

Hey T! Cobra incoming!

Tweak-
Am I reading you correctly? Do you want to trade a DDSS for one of my pedals (OCD or Crunchbox?) or did I misunderstand?
