that's one way to stop credit card usage.

Chris,

Hope this doesn't make you feel even worse...but: http://www.pickbay.com/

See now, after you make up a bunch of those cool looking, one-of-a-kind picks with your Pick Punch, you can give them away as gifts in a nice looking Pick Bay. I'm sure you will be very, urmh, more popular with the ladies.

Pimpin' picks, who would've ever thunk it?! :)

Your pal,
Ray K.

i did that years ago at a gig with a pair of scissors. i got to the gig and realized that i didn't have a pick with me and no other guitar player in the band so i found a card i didn't use much and started cuttin'.

the beauty of it is that you can really make picks out of almost anything not just credit/gift cards.

I bought one a year or so ago. The novelty wore off pretty fast as I didn't punch out any picks I'd actually use. I like thicker picks than the punch can handle.

That's what I'm thinking...
I'm used to 1.40mm Dunlop Ultex picks. Do I need to buy a hydraulic press along with the Pick Punch for that? :D
Or do I punch out two picks from the fret protector and then superglue them together?

On their site, they demonstrate using superglue to put two or more picks together. They even "sandwich" artwork in between, which looks like a cool idea. I appreciate your take on this, but was wondering if you'd ever tried doing this to make thicker picks?

Thanks,
Ray K.

Hmmm, you got me thinking Tom. You must have a pretty big punch to make those with?! :)

It's been sitting in a drawer (I think) ever since the novelty wore off. I haven't punched anything out in quite a while and never tried super gluing two or more pieces together. Like I said, I never punched out anything I would use. As always, YMMV.

Okay...well, if you ever get some spare time...let us know if you have any luck increasing the thickness of the picks.

From what you've already said, I think I would pass on one now. Maybe they'll come up with an improved version that can stamp thicker materials.

Thanks,
Ray K.
