I was just wondering if there is a way to bring back a satin neck back finish that has gone a bit glossy over the years. Any tips or easy things short of a refinish? I was thinking maybe a very light sand blasting just enough to rough up the surface a bit?
we spray a flat finish on the neck then sand it with 240 grit trimite paper. it goes dull real fast and has lots of white sterate on it so if you use a different paper you might want to use a bit finer grit, maybe 280-320. only sand as much as you have to to dull it. you can usually do this a few times before you run out of finish.

I'll try 320 first and see how that goes. I use a sand blaster from time to time to matt up aluminium panels before painting. I thought it would likely have the same effect on a neck. I would worry about taking too much finish off with the blaster though.
