Tom, have you seen these black base coat metallic finishes Grosh has been doing? Interesting twist on the vintage metallic look. I would paste a picture but I can't figure it out on this new fangled phone. Ever played with that idea?

hi bob, looks like you cover more of the black than we do. nice size flake!

Yes it's a 3 stage process. although it does cover more, that metallic orange is really bright without that black basecoat.

Am I missing something, or are examples of these missing from the "gallery" on the TAG website?

those colors are very seldom ordered, maybe less than one per year so getting a photo is pretty tough. we've probably made less than 6 black cherry's in the last 15 years.

Ok... How about Gold Top over black with binding and a black back on a Bulldog... Black PQ pickups and black knobs... I had this idea of Darth Vader's Gold Top... Lol.

gold top is not just a flake, but has opaque color in it. so it would not work over black. for a flake or metallic to do the black sneaking through the flake look, the flake or metallic flake has to be suspended in just clear or a candy color. then it's up to the person spraying to decide how much black is left showing.

Got something that would work Tom?

gold tops have very unique greenish gold color, not sure they would look good over black. a regular gold flake would look cool, or any trans color can be sprayed over the flake on top of the black and only the flake will change color.
