I am very happy with how this turned out. I haven't played it enough yet to comment on how the scale effects the tone, but I dig the feel. It does sound great too. I had the middle position wired to give me neck/bridge since I don't use the middle by itself. The TA pickups split so much better than any others I have had, they sound like single coils. The mini switch is boost/normal/split. This the heaviest Anderson I have owned/played, about 9lbs on my bathroom scale. Not too heavy though, not really noticeable on the strap. About right for a mahogany/maple 2 hum guitar.
I will try to post more pics when I have more time.

Wow! Amazing looking axe. Congrats.
BTW what exactly is a "Short S?" or "T?" I've seen this name thrown around lately....Is it a shorter scale iteration? If so what is the scale length?

24.75" scale.
Great thanks for the clarification. Can any guitar be ordered this way?
I believe that right now only the Short T, Drop Short T, Drop Short S, and Short ProAm are available. I don't believe you can yet get a Short Classic (or Short version of any S shaped guitar that has a pickguard).
People who know will correct me...
that is correct at this time. after we've made some more of these we'll re evaluate the short classic.

So, assuming a fixed bridge, double humbuckers (no sc in middle), and mahogany body, is the difference between the short drop top and a cobra s just the neck wood? Or is there a difference in body size/shape?
I've been thinking my next Anderson would be a Cobra S (fixed bridge/2 HB), but may like a maple neck/rosewood board for a slightly sharper attack.

I think that is correct.
The main reason I went with the short s over the cobra s is the floyd. Tom won't do a floyd on a mahogany neck. I do like a maple neck with a mahogany/maple body though, I think it does ad some snap to the attack. I ordered a Koll a few years ago with that wood combo, but with a hipshot bridge, and P90s. The hipshot comes close to the feel of a floyd, but doesn't have the range or tuning stability.
I got to spend a couple of hours plying it last night since my lawnmower had a dead battery.;) I had to sell my classic to get this one, and I have had only 2 humbucker guitars to play while I waited. It's nice to have that middle/bridge combo again. The cobra with the middle split comes close, but not quite the same hollow quack. The middle pup is there just for that, I had it wired so the middle position on the 5 way is the bridge/neck combo.
It took me a couple of months to make up my mind on the neck shape, color, and bridge pup, or I would of had this a few months ago. I think it was Feb when Tom said he would build a short s floyded guitar. I have to say I was worried about getting the HC3, but I'm very happy with it now that I have spent some time with it. My classic had the HF2, and my cobra the HC2. I was afraid the HC3 might be to dark for me. But, I'm happy to say it's not, and it is very flexible. It is a little hotter than the HC2, not much darker, has all that PAFish top end sparkle. Roll the volume knob down just a lttle and it nails the HC2, roll it just a little more and it nails the 57/08 in my Cu22. I get more sparkle and chime as I roll the volume knob down, just awesome!

I like what you just have said about H3 !
How is H3 talking with H1 in the neck ? Are they good pair ?
Thx

Hi Zoran,
It's the HC3 and HC1, but I think that's what you meant anyway.
They go very well together. I like this combo better than the HC2/HC1 in my cobra. The 3 doesn't overpower the 1, they sound great together.
Don't you have a tremel-no on your DT? How does it work for you. I have heard mixed reviews with a floyd.

Can you split the HC3? and how does it sound split. I have been thinking about putting that in my CT. there was no HC3 when I ordered the CT.

Hi Mike ,
Oops , yes this is about HC's not H's (which I have in my drop top )
Tremol -no is an extremely useful device .
First at all , I have two guitars in one - my playing style is completely different with Floyd than with "hard tail" when tremol no (TN) is on .
Mainly because of different bend /vibrato technique which has to be adjusted accordingly to the different bridge response .
The sound is also different , to my ears .
One should spend some time in learning about TN set up and how to tighten the TN screws on the best way to avoid tuning problems if playing live gig .
Shortly , tremol no gives one more dimension to floyded TA guitars .
Cheers,
Zoran

Thanks guys. I'm really digging the range of tones I can get with this one. No surprise really. I never use the bridge/neck combo on my PRS guitars, even one with 57/08s. Just never sounds right, I just can't put my finger on it. But. I just love that position with the HCs. I had to sell my Cobra last summer. and I really missed that combo, though the Cobra was HC1/HC2. The HC1/HC3 work just as well together. I would say that with the volume full on, the HC3 has as much or more output than the HFS in Cu24, but with clarity and top end chime, back the volume down just a little, say 1/4 turn, and it's PAFish, just amazing. The boost switch is the only thing I haven't gotten along with yet. It's to just darken and fatten the tone more than boost, the normal position on the 3 way seems louder and clearer.
This is the first floyd I have owned. I have always liked the feel of a floyd, and the tuning stability, but have avoided them because I have always heard they can be a nightmare to set up. We do one song where I do some pretty heavy trem work in the last solo, to the point that the band knows to give me a minute to retune before we do the next song because it knocks any guitar I have used out of tune. Not only was it in perfect tune at the end of that song at rehearsal the other night, my band mate all thought the "new effect" I used on the solo sounded great!:D The fact I can loosen or tighten the tension on the bar with out tools during a song is benefit that I didn't realize before I had it. It's nice to loosen the arm a little so it drops out of the way like I normally set them, and then tighten a little to stay put close to my hand so I can just touch it for one of our songs.
The set up is typical TA amazing. I dropped the action to under 2/32 and still no buzzing unless I really hit the strings hard.
