Longest day in my life I think. Internet told me it arrived and was sent out for delivery at 6 am today. Didn't arrive at house until 4pm! About 97 degrees outside here in Reno, NV. Probably hotter in the truck. Had to work until 9 pm anyway. I figured 5 hours in my music room was enough time to adjust a bit. Won't be able to put her through her paces until this weekend. Band practice tomorrow night also. Weighs in at just over 7 pounds!
I'll shut up now.
Spec sheet first then pics. You might wanna sit for this . . . . .

thanks all
only plugged it in for a minute last night. PQs sound amazing. Can be very full and strong/saturated, or very delicate and articulate depending on volume/tone level. I've never had a guitar w/ P pickups before so I will take all weekend to "discover" them more.
I didn't realize you could have a push/pull tone know with the PQs, but when pulled, the PQs give a fabulous single coil sound to it.
Tom, what exactly happens with the push/pull on the PQs? Is is like splitting a humbucker?
Thanks. I'll report more next week.

Killer looking guitar, wow!
the push pulls are series parallel so it's always humcancelling. because the structure is so different, the pickup still only sees the string in one place. i think you'll find that even though at bedroom volume the parallel seems to be a fair amount less output, that when playing live it keeps up nicely. i've found that the bridge pickup in parallel(up), does a great alt country tele tone.

Beautius Maximus!!!
I want... I think I might do Firemist Gold on top though and a little darker brown with black on the headstock face. Killer guitar.
what an awesome instrument. It must sound spectacular with those pups. PQ's w/ parallel option are calling out to me.

Just got back from practice with the Bulldog. I was blown away. Didn't have to play anything else. My poor HTC is very sad. We play classic rock mostly and this thing killed. Loud and articulate. Distorted very well (Crate 50 watt 2X12) Only used a Suhr Koko boost for leads. Very crunchy distortion and ripping bluesly stuff. I am in heaven. It covers SO MUCH GROUND. Way better than my LP Custom was and easy to play. Fits right to my body without any neck hang: my HTC is a bit neck heavy and I found I was re-adjusting unknowingly to pull the headstock up. Played it quite a bit with just the middle position (both PQs) and adjusted the volume/tone/push-pull. Everything from Led Zeppelin to Eric Clapton/BB King. Added a ZZ top song (sharp dressed man) and now bandmates want a Led Zeppelin Medley.
shorter scale was very thick sounding and easy to play. low rise frets sure don't feel "low".
I thought about a black headstock for a more classic look, but didn't want a Les Paul, I wanted a Tom Anderson. Very vintage vibe and woodsy look to it. No regrets at all.
Thanks to everyone at TAG for a wonderful functional work of art.

That is a beauty you got there. Congrats!
I played a Bulldog at Charleys a couple of weeks ago. Very impressed.
I can't wait to try the PQs some time. I was a P90 only guy for a long time, very versatile pups, as you are discovering. Now I don't have a single P90 equipped guitar. The noiseless PQ has me very interested.

thanks
this honeymoon may never end
would post some sound clips, but I don't think I can do this guitar justice and I don't want to give anyone a false impression of how this thing sounds.
so much depends on recording environment/amp/speakers/touch, etc.
If I happen to capture a good clip that represents The Goldtop Bulldog well enough I'll be sure to share. ;)

Wow, that's so fine! My first ever real guitar was a goldtop LP Deluxe then, many years later in the early 90's, I became a "long scale guitar only" kinda guy and shorter scale guitars seemed, well, too short. I never lost my intense desire for another goldtop of some kind, though. This particular blend could swing me to a shorter scale.
I'd be curious if any of you guys have had a similar experience and whether or not the shift back to a shorter scale was/is cumbersome. (maybe I need a new thread for this.)

Why are there no Bulldog videos, sound samples, reviews or anything?
we have only been shipping them for a few months. maybe people are having too much fun playing them?

I'll wait for Jeff at Worldguitars to get his in the UK.
Seems they are going down well.
we do have one ready to go in the next shipment to the UK.

I played all short scale (gibson) until I picked up my T-classic. Then played that only for the last 1 1/2 years. Going back to the shorter Bulldog was very easy in my opinion. Easier bends, just a more midrange sound, thicker in my opinion.
I'll try to put some sound clips on here, but I don't want to give a false impression of the beauty of it's sound since my recording skills are limited.

I was a short scale guy, then a long scale guy for a while, but a few shorter scale ones recently have left me there. I have only one longer scale guitar, and I just don't play it much, I think because the "fight" is different, and I prefer the shorter scales now.
