Steve Miller mentioned he worked with Tom on some guitars.
Tom, what did he buy? The article said he just recently, quietly, sold over 200 guitars.
How was it working with Steve?
Great article, by the way!
Hope your horse dogs are doing well!

Tom probably built Steve a guitar that accurately reproduce those wacky sounds heard in the middle of "Abracadabra."

*Wink, wonk, whoop, rrrrr, woo-woo-woo-woo". :D

it was quite some time ago. we built a couple teleish guitars. bodies were either pine or spruce. he was into a light thing and wanted similar sounding guitars to a guitar dave s made back in the schecter days that was pine. he also was into an inuit artist at the time so they had totem painting on them by the artist.

The Steve Miller article/interview in Vintage Guitar is a GREAT read. One of the best interviews I've ever read about a rock musician. You all know how talented he is. He also happens to be a very smart man.

I love his interest in designing and having fine guitars built for him, by top luthers.

If you read the list of top shelf luthiers he's met and worked with over the years, I wasn't a bit surprised that he'd called upon Tom.

Congrats to you, Tom, for yet another very public "nod of approval" by an iconic player!! Well deserved!!

Apparently there will be a part 2 interview as a follow up in the next Vintage Guitar issue next month as well.

I just had the absolute pleasure to have seen Steve Miller band in Atlantic City. Curtosity of my best bud, Eliot Jacobs, we got to head back stage and meet Eliots good friend, Kenny Lee Lewis, who's played guitar in Steve's band for a long time. Great guys, and a really fun show. How often do you see a band play for over 2 hours, and every song they play is/was a hit???
