I'm still using Logic 8. Has anyone done the upgrade to 9? Can you tell me if it is worth it? I heard there were some issues with it being 64 bit and not working with plug ins. Other than Apple Jam Packs, the only thing else I use is Amp Farm.

Hi Dannopelli !
Friend of mine , Tibor Levay , a composer and professional producer ,recently upgraded Logic 8 to 9 .
Last weekend my Son recorded in his studio as a preparation for his first High School Bands Battle (making a backing track for his band mates ) .
Logic 9 was working with plug-ins smoothly , like a baby .
Tibor said Logic 9 is much smoother for work and even more " logic" than Logic 8 , but still with not too many revolutionary changes , except 64 bit , what might becomes a normal way how to do the things .
I will upgrade my 8 to 9 , this summer too .
Btw, Fat'n Sexy Redy shows an amazing sound in studio !!!! That guitar has a killer sound !

Although I didn't upgrade from 8 to 9, I have Logic 9 and it is amazing (was using Garageband). Very seamless and 'logical' program to work with. I loaded in one plugin which worked without problem. Huge amount of plug-ins and sounds included. I'm not a professional musician, so maybe there are some professional needs not covered with Logic 9, but I certainly love it.

I had no problems whatsoever with the upgrade on my ancient MacBook (2GHZ 4G RAM). Don't know about plug-ins, but the new amp stuff built-in is smokin!

I really wanna get Logic but I wont ever buy another Apple product. I have been using ProTools and I just got Cubase but I havent got a chance to play with it yet.

Logic 9 is easier to learn and work with, and they did address many bugs left over from years past.

I'm Logic user from '97 and I upgraded from 6.4 to 8-9 in past two years but
I still work with 6.4 because of the logic, simple interface at most I believe.
For me Apple went on the different path with Logic, I wish they kept more of the Emagic heritage in there.

I upgraded 8 to 9 with no issues. I still prefer ProTools but I use the two interchangeably. Logic 9 feels a little more ProTools-ish to me which is a good thing. And yeah, MainStage 2 and the guitar/amp stuff is really great.
