Just wondering if it was possible to have covers on the Crowdster electric p/u's? I have pretty much decided to have the retrofit to make my + a ++ and was wondering if this would be possible. If so would you have to replace the original or could you add a cover to it?
i don't know of any cover that would fit. they are longer than a mini humbucker.

Thanks for the reply Tom,
Can you tell me the thickness of the chrome that you use for the covers on your other pickups? Just toying around with the idea of trying out a custom CNC company like...

Also, is there a metal backing to the Crowdster p/u's? Correct me if I am wrong but aren't most covers soldered to the metal bottoms of p/u's.
the material is about .015" thick, but it is formed from sheet stock that is nickel silver(even though it does not have any silver in it). brass sounds terrible and you don't want anything that has any magnetic properties.
the base plate is fiber. you can wax or hot glue the cover on then make sure you ground it.

Thank you again for the info Tom,
I am going to stop by my local Harbor Freight today after work and p/u on of their digital calipers to take some measurements on the pickup. Also will download the software on the site I linked. We'll see how it goes from there.

But what will it do to the SOUND?
I LOVE the sound of these pickups just the way they are.
depending on the material and it's thickness it will get varying amounts of dullness. not what i'd be looking for.

Yeah...
Got home and checked into the fabrication process...way more $ than I was thinking.
Oh well...
