I like that very much. The arrangement sounds, to me anyway, like something Procol Harum would have done for the song. I also like Orianthi's playing, I think she has a great future ahead of her.

I have to agree. Some may disagree with my comment but, I didn't care for what Vai did and Orianthi....so-so.

there are a lot of great drummers out there but Travis Barker has created his own sound. If you heard a song he played on you would know it was him if you didnt already. Fantastic.

I kind of felt the same way. An epic solo was needed. Not just a shred. Just nothing special.

If there is, a song that should'nt be covered in a recorded version for sale. I would say, thats it. It has been played to DEATH. But whenever its on the radio, I dont even think about changing the channel. IMO, it is what every other rock song wants to be, but cant. Having said that, I think they did a good job of it. A rock band could not pull it off. You should'nt do it the same, but you cant do it better. A woman R&B artist like Mary J is half way there. She's not a rock band. In that respect, I think it's a great idea. As far as the epic solo Danno, there already is one. But I know what you mean. I guess having Orianthi solo is kind of gimicky. I'm sure steve vai Would have done a much better job. Overall, they had the guts to do it, Mary J is great, so I think its pretty cool.

I have a different opinion, i wish MJB didnt put her stink on it.

I was listening to the radio this morning and the morning show that I listen to was raggin on this version. Stairway to Heaven is an impossible song to cover because it never sounds as good as the original. I actually have to agree with them. I dont like it. I think Mary J Blige is out of place with the rest of that all star lineup of musicians and the first half of the song is a Carbon Copy of the original. I also have a problem with the instrumental parts too because she has to make some kind of noise over it (she does this with her own songs too). Some of my favorite artists are on this and I think when they come in it sounds good but not before them and not after them.

I dont know thats just my opinion. I'm just not feelin it

Seemed like a waste of a lot of great talent but like others said, it is almost an impossible song to cover and have any hope of making it better. The guitar solo from the original is what made me want to play guitar and I am still working on that solo.

For some reason I usually have a different opinion than most. :) I'm judging it against the other "popular" music that's being released these days instead of the original version. Most of the "kids" that buy "popular" music these days have probably never heard the original version.

One good thing that could come out of this is that some of today's music buying public may get interested enough to find and listen to the original version.

Drummer is very good, strings arrangements are rights, musicians are goods (i really don't like singer so much), but... I donīt like this.

Agree - great drummer. Guitar player was bad - shred style did not fit with the song at all and the tone - thin /bright/buzzy - ugh !

I have to agree with the naysayers here.

The vocals lost the feeling and groove that epitomises the original.

And the guitar solo was just plain wrong for the track - to the point where it sounded more like clashing random noise than the well chosen notes that are supposed to be the foundation of great lead guitar riffage.
