I'm talking to some middle school students in a couple days... I'd like you all to "join me"...
Why do you love playing music? in 50 words or less...

It's like being able to speak in a way you can't speak normally, instead of fumbling for the right words, you just get to play, and your point is made. How well you make it is up to you, but I just love the release, and the way you can affect someone on an almost spiritual level, beyond everyday interaction. Plus, I think that musicians are the most accepting and understanding folks around, for the most part.

When I first started:
- Because my dad played and I wanted to learn to play and make him proud of me
- It looked cool
- A lot of guys couldn't do it
- Chicks dug it
As I've aged the reasons I keep playing are different. Not sure middle schoolers will get it.
- In the right band, where everyone listens to each other and plays accordingly, there is nothing like it
- It gives me a chance to express myself creatively
- Great stress reliever
- Gets me out of the house a few times a month
- Chicks still dig it :D

As I get into my 30th year of doing this semi-for a living, I think of my Dad who loved golf. He kept going back to get the perfect game. People want to re-create "that good day or good game they had"..I feel like that. Of course the dynamics change when you do it for fun vs for income. It can be living out the teen fantasy or like a bad day job. But its a job like no other..and thats part of the attraction.

I play music for one reason.....to bring honor and Glory to the one! Other than that I don't really play for any other reason. Music is my way to express myself.

So if any of you guys who MAKE these fine guitars for a living are reading, what do you like best about THAT? In just a few words...
Thanks, guys, this is GREAT stuff!
playing live is what i love, don't care much for the recording process. i love the creative part, i really love the spontaneity and just getting lost in the music. since most of my playing these days is done in church there is a strong spiritual connection that happens easier for me through music than any other medium.
from a builder standpoint, it is how i measure how we're doing and is the constant driving force for new or different products. it's the search for the ever elusive tone. it is a moving target, so i'm not expecting to ever reach it.

I am not sure how "spiritual" you are allowed to get on this forum, but can I say.......Amen! That is exactly how I feel, we were blessed with that ability and what great way to use it. Thanks Tom for continuing to make Fantastic guitars that make it easier to express ourselves with.
It's the joy.
.......and, because you can.

Music is the bridge between our mortal body and mind and our immortal soul .
Enjoying in guitar playing (as better playing as much enjoying ) is the best way how to be adjacent to our immortal soul , even just for a moment or two during that final crescendo of guitar solo .
( for that purpose we do need a best guitar money can buy , say , new Tom Anderson with 24 frets :D :p :)  ;) )
The results is that indescribable feeling , we want more and more .
So , some very involved people told me we don't actually "love " to play music on the first place , what we do love is the feeling of touching the another World ,different than our poor Earth .
And that feeling is addiction .
The another solution is Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds :D
