Hey guys,
so I havent yet come to a decision on whether or not to buy a new guitar... I know this should be simple its always a "yes, buy it" but now I am thinking of a change of pace.
I love my Cobra and my Atom CT and I love the lower sounding guitars however, I want a bit of a change and was thinking that I might get an "S" or a "T" style and so I came to this conclusion: I dont really like single coil too much with Alder or Swamp Ash because it has too much high end and not enough low for me but now i am thinking of getting a Short T and I think I found my solution...

does anyone have any experience (i know tom does) with rosewood top on alder and a solid rosewood neck? It seems like, from what I understand, that this has a pretty focused bottom and not so much high and a nice clear mid.
I think, tho, that this might be the guitar I am looking for.
Thanks
Chris
we had a rosewood topped shorty at the namm show with a chocolate maple neck. everyone loved that guitar, maybe my favorite of the show. the rosewood neck sharpens the attack up to the point of not being too forgiving. depends what you're after. since you're just down the street, you could come borrow my maple necked short t with m's to see how close that would be for you.

tom, you're too good to me. I can never turn down an offer to borrow a guitar, maybe I can stop by tomorrow.
I did fall in love with that short t at Namm, it was in my hands most during my visit, but i didnt hear it in an amp...
you know where i hang out.
i have some other friends who think we should have a tagw library card.

I have played this guitar. It is amazing. It is still at Chuck Levin's:

I would settle to be in Leonardtown Maryland near JDBLACKWELL:) :) :)
This thread interested me because I am considering a new guitar and my thoughts are leading towards a short 'T' designed like an Esquire.....thoughts, anyone?

thanks again, tom, for letting me test drive this shorty. unfortunately i lost it between my couch cushions and its a little too far to reach so i might not be able to get this back to you. :D :D :D :D
This is the droid I've been looking for. This is probably the exact tone I was seeking.

I get mine next month! Fiesta Red! Woot! I'm afraid it's going to ruin me for other guitars and will sell off my two PRS.

grapeshot,
An Anderson and a PRS are very different kinds of guitars. That's good news. You, like me, may want to just keep a PRS around.
That said, I play it less and less. I was in the process of divesting myself of my non-TAG guitars. One down, two to go... maybe... but that PRS is super sweet... not sure I can part with it...

So I am gearing up to get my next Andy and I think I know exactly what I want. I was curious what the big tonal difference is between a Hollow Alder Back with an Alder Top VS. Hollow Alder Back with a Maple Top.
Tom let me use my library card and I checked out a Hollow shorty (all alder) and I loved it but I am kinda feeling like the next one should have a quilted maple top (none of my guitars have that yet.)
I know the experts can enlighten me... thanks
