This was my set up for Easter Service this morning. I alternated between a Marshall Plexi and a Fender Twin Reverb with a TS808, BB Pre Amp and some 1/8 and .8 delay. Personal monitor is a FBT Verve 8MA, FRFR. The Atom Special was AWESOME!
My GAS for pedals and amps has evaporated. But I sure want ANOTHER TAG!

I could not agree more. After getting a Fractal Axe-FX Ultra and FBT 12ma and 12a, I sold Mesa Boogie Road King, Marshall JVM, Line Vetta and Cabinets. I have zero interest in new effects and amps. Only new guitars purchased in the last year.
had the same experience today, just the other direction. played the little bambino with just the m9 and a clean boost. it was heaven.

Being at that point is what it's all about.
So, you liking that little bambino, eh?
it's crazy good for me. through the bogner cube it's just the right volume, inspiring to play. if you like clean tones it does better with lower output pickups, but still does great with hotter ones, just not as clean. it actually gets 2 sounds that are both great and i even used the 3rd sound this weekend. i've played it with both ends of my guitar spectrum and loved both. done cleanish stuff and pretty gainy stuff and i love it all. and it's the cheapest amp i own, yikes!

Now you have me curious...
1) what's the MacBook for?
2) what's the m-audio device in the rack?
3) where did you get the colored labels for the liquid foot pro?
4) rude question: how much $ do you have invested in this current rig?
It looks like it would be pretty versatile. I'm glad you're finding peace with it! :)

tom- what speaker are you using in the bogner cube? 8 or 16ohm?

guitarzan,
I have a pdf and photoshop template for some labels if you're interested. Hate to bud in, but I have LFP that I have done lables for. PM me and I'll send in either or both formats.

I didn't play this Easter for the first time in about 15 years!
But I play next weekend, and I'll be the only guitarist. a "power-trio" weekend. which means I get to stretch out like crazy.
My rig has changed lately and is kinda interesting, especially to church players, so perhaps I'll take some pics and post an explanation...
How you enjoying that M9, Tom? I'm lovin my M13 big time!

I don't have an axe-fx, I'm just curious about the whole thing. I've been really happy with my rig for the last few years, but I'm a proponent of new technology if it pushes the guitar world forward. Just curious what it would cost a guy like me to dive in head first.

As a die hard tube snob, I was skeptical at first. I have a rather elaborate set up with 2 heads and a huge pedal board. The 1st Sunday that I used the axe fx was only after borrowing one the day before. I created a simple patch duplicating my most used pedals. After the sound check the sound man came running up to the stage and asked me what was different. I asked him why, and he said your sound is so much more clearer than normal. I showed him the axe fx and he said...it's your sound but better. That did it. so hear is the breakdown for me.
Axe Fx Ultra = $2000
LFP = $799
Yamaha msr400 =$400
Midi Interface + $29
Sold 3 of my tube amps and I'm about $3000 to the good
If I want to change to a different amp, I just dial it up. GAS = cured except for wanting Tom to do a 335 style guitar, and when and if he ever does, I'll have to have one. I'm in the process of selling off all but one of my tube amps, just to hold onto for reference.

I am by no means a tube snob, but I have been very very happy with my tube amps and either stompboxes or M13/M9. I was a Line 6 Vetta user for a couple of years and I really loved the versatility- until I played a gig right next to a kid with a tube amp and I couldn't for the life of me dial in that oomph and punch. That was a bunch of years ago so I'm assuming the gap has closed since then.
$3200 is a lot to spend on a test-run for me, though. My wife keeps the money close to the vest and I'm 100% sure she's not into me "checking out" 3 grand worth of gear. :)
8 ohm crex speaker for the cube.
love the m9. does all my delay, trem, verb and weird odd stuff.
i've said it before, but i'm lazy about dialing in stuff. i show up and play. i may use a different amp or pedal depending how i'm feeling that day or even that set. i've changed amps between services before to compare. this rig is just plain easy. making me think lots more about what i'm playing not how i'm getting there. i go through lots of phases, so i could be back on more pedals later, but i am so enjoying this amp.
i just got a new set up, but am still the tube "snob"! i haven't been able to dial in what i hear from a speaker moving air. and i've really tried and spent alot of time with that.
i'll get a pic of the new rig and maybe you guys can help with some f/x direction? i'm still using an xt live for colour and stuff. i don't use the preamp or cab sim. strictly modulation, comp and gates. i'm curious to the m9 or m13 set up?
thanx
hey tom,
crex is a sweet speaker. the 2 cabs i just put together, i used one with a tonker. sounds great. the other cab i used wgs; g12h30 copy (reaper) and a v30 copy (vetran 30).
sorry to throw that in and rob the thread, i'll post more in another! :D

Guitarzan,
I know that the rule of my house is before one comes in, one has to go out. So I was able to turn a few of my amps to fund the Axe Fx set up and still have some duckets left over for that all important next TAG!
As far as pushing sound, you have re-set you thinking abit. It's like hearing your guitar recorded. We recently had Darrell Evans at our church and I got to play guitar for Him, he wanted to know how he could get one after he heard mine.

ckofahl did a pretty good job in breaking down the pricing.
The mbp is for sheet music. I put everything in powerpoint. That way I can stand back several feet and still see. I also have the Ultra Editor on the screen, just in case I get the urge to tweak something inbetween songs.
The m-audio is an interface to tie the editor and LFP and Ultra together. The LFP sends midi commands to the Ultra and tells it what to do.
Made the labels myself from templates on the forum.
This set up is close to 8k. That includes the mbp, mackie mixer, Elixir cables, Atom, etc. My monitor is almost double ckofahl's.
I have never gotten so many compliments on my tone. Sorry for the late reply, I am twelve hours ahead of you guys.

The good news is that I don't need all that money because I already have a nice, fast mbp and an Anderson Shorty that my wife will bury with me, especially if I spend the remaining $3k on another guitar rig. :)

Imagine the look on your wife's face when she walks into a music shop with you. As you walk past the amps, you don't even turn your head. She looks at you in disbelief. You continue walking right past the pedals. By now her jaw is hitting the floor. You are there only to buy picks. PRICELESS!

ok, i took the bambino plunge. my old friend george cocchini is a reason artist and between him and tom's glowing remarks i decided to give one a try.
i also have a divided by 13 9/15 which sounds wonderful, but it's just a little too much amp for some gigs i do.
i also have a 9/15 and love it but it's too loud more my regular thing. always have to use an attenuator.
did you get the head? what cab will you use? make sure you pull the volume pots.

i really love the 9/15, but it is a bit too loud for my needs sometimes.
i did get the bambino head and i'm going to use it with my bogner cube.
i have a couple of speakers to try... vintage 30, can rex and a weber alnico.
thanks for the tip on pulling the pots!
