Does it make any difference , as far as the effect on the "acoustic" sound?

if we're talking about a metal bridge with piezos, i'd say not much.

Yes, the Fishman Powerbridge that you used to use.

Thanks Tom. That answers my question.

I have Tom's old Anderson/Fishman powerbridge on my Hollow Cobra and I have a Wilkinson FIshman on my US Masters (solid).

virtually no difference in sound. None.

Anyone have an issue with sound blead between the pickups and the Fishman bridge? For some reason what ever effects I have active on the electric side I hear through the acoustic (bridge) side. I have tried several different cords and A/B/Y boxes and I still get the problem.

You're separating the signal with a stereo cable?

If you are, then, in my experience, you shouldn't have that problem. I don't.

i have seen some cables have more cross talk than others. the fishman cable had independant shields on the 2 signals.

The Lava cable I use is extraordinary, and wasn't their most expensive one by a long shot.

I've also seen them that are basically two cables "strapped" together. That works very well, too.

Some "send-return" cables work well, others horribly.

I second that comment about the Lava cable.
Its excellent quality, no noise and absolutely no cross talk.
Great cable and a reasonable price.

mark at lava is also very good at recommending just what you need. he has a wide array of styles in a wide array of prices. he'll steer you to what fits your needs.

My first Powerblend pedal was used, and they couldn't find the original stereo cable so sold me a "cheaper" one that they thought would work fine. Ummm............no. Probably wasn't sheilded right, etc. Had the crosstalk problem. Ordered a Fishman cable that normally came with that pedal and problem was gone.

May call Lava to see if I could get one with right angled plugs on both ends.

Thanks for the leads, I will look into them. I bought my TAG with the Fishman bridge and it came with a Monster cable that splits into two for the full length and it gets the "cross talk" problem. I will look for the Lava cable.

Monster Cable = there is your problem.

Monster Cable = there is your problem.
+1. Monster started out in the 'hifi' world selling cables to 'audiophiles'. In that sector, most cables will not make a noticeable difference to the sound. Also build reliability hardly matters as the cables just sit their forever behind your stationary equipment.

When it comes to professional audio and live sound, cable design and quality do matter. There is a point of diminishing returns at the high end, but there is also a point below which the lack of quality turns into susceptibility to induced noise and an intermittent signal path.

Y-cables are notorious for cut corners. If the wrong type of cable is used, you get cross talk, or high capacitance, or poor noise immunity, etc.

I talked to Mark at Lava Cables yesterday and I am going to buy one of their cables.

Lava offers a few different "levels" of quality for their stereo cables, for those of you using Lava Cables what cable flavor do you use?

It was the first time I bought from Lava, and I think I bought the cheapest or second cheapest cable they sell, and it is working amazing for me.

Anyone knows about some video clip playing TAG with piezo bridge ?
I would like to see/hear how it actually works :)
Tnx

it's been a while since we offered them and i don't know of any videos.

If the "acoustic" signal is routed to a deticated acoustic amp, or directly to the PA -----it can add a nice acoustic flavor to an already nice electric sound (blending the two). I find that I don't use just the acoustic sound very often. But blended-------I love and actually use that quite abit.

It won't get you to Crowdster territory, or a real acoustic guitar. But to me-----it does what it's supposed to do. Just adds an acoustic flavor to your sound. I have them on all my TAG's.

part of the problem with all the elctric bridges that are loaded with piezo's is that since the bridge is all metal, the pickups react too fast getting to the quack zone faster. the other is that with lighter strings, you just don't play the same. if you do a fingerstyle thing gently, they are very convincing, but the more you dig in the less authentic they sound. blending is pretty darn cool though.

I just ordered a Lava cable, can't wait to see if it solves the cross signal thing.
