... I was cleaning up a drawer, found $75 in Amazon.com Gift Certs. Went over, selected the Snowball USB mic, paid using the GCs, and it's on its way here.
Should be a fun way to record using my laptop when I don't want to use the full rig.
Anyone here uses a snowball too? :)

So this morning, I took an Ovation Elite T, the Snowball, a Vista laptop loaded w/ a copy of Audacity, and decided to record as follows:
1st track: rhythm guitar + vocals at the same time
2nd track: "solo" guitar
I didn't want to use an equalizer or anything like that. Just straight into audacity, then export to mp3. One take for each track. Not looking for pretty, just trying to get a feel for the microphone and how easy it is to use.
The result:

What do you guys think?
(btw, sorry for the vocals. I am still fighting a nasty case of bronchitis and have even less range than I normally do, to say nothing of no power because basically, I am winded and wheezin' :))
Sounds very good. I'd keep that cold around for a while..................:)

Very nice I like the way the cold gave your voice a nice gravely, raspy property.
Could you give us your initial thoughts on the Mic? I've been debating between the Snowball and the Samson C01U.

for what I wanted it to do for me - i.e. provide me with a nothing to ready to record in 5 minutes to capture an idea or a quick first take of a song - this thing is perfect. I love it, and it's a winner.
